President Wishes Jared Schmeck Merry Christmas, Man Responds With Asshole Remark

An Oregon man, Jared Schmeck, called into the NORAD Santa Tracker phone center on Christmas eve with his children and found himself connected to President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. After the president asked about all of Schmeck’s children, what they’d asked Santa for, and wishing them all a wonderful Christmas, Schmeck’s response was to tell Biden “Let’s go Brandon”- code for “fuck Joe Biden.” Here’s the full exchange between Schmeck and the Bidens on Christmas Eve: https://youtu.be/F1ulpuUKI4Q The phrase “Let’s Go Brandon” took over social media in October after an interview with NASCAR driver Brandon Brown following his first NASCAR Xfinity Series race win. Fans of NASCAR were chanting “fuck Joe Biden” during the interview. In an attempt to steer the interview away from politics, reporter Kelli Stavast said they were chanting “Let’s Go Brandon” in support of Brown. The phrase soon became synonymous with criticisms of President Biden, and rang out at concerts, sports games and events where Biden has spoken. Schmeck says he didn’t mean for his sign off to be vulgar and that it was meant as a joke. From OregonLive:

“At the end of the day, I have nothing against Mr. Biden, but I am frustrated because I think he can be doing a better job,” said Jared Schmeck, 35, who works for an electric company and was previously a Medford police officer for six years until he resigned in July 2018. “I mean no disrespect to him.”

“I understand there is a vulgar meaning to ‘Lets go Brandon,’ but I’m not that simple minded, no matter how I feel about him,” the 35-year-old father said Christmas morning.

“He seems likes he’s a cordial guy. There’s no animosity or anything like that. It was merely just an innocent jest to also express my God-given right to express my frustrations in a joking manner…I love him just like I love any other brother or sister.”

Now he says he is being attacked for utilizing his “freedom of speech.” So, to be clear, Schmeck knows that “Let’s go Brandon” is code for “fuck Joe Biden.” It wasn’t a random turn of phrase Schmeck chose to use. He knew what he was saying. If you watch the video (that Schmeck himself posted to his own YouTube account), he’s looking around the room the entire call. You can see from his body language he’s screwing up the nerve to say this thing. Also, while he was once a police officer, Schmeck doesn’t seem to understand the concept of First Amendment freedom of speech. He’s currently grousing on social media that he has the right to express himself. And he’s right – he has the right to say ‘fuck Joe Biden’ if he wants. BUT – others on social media ALSO have their own right to express their opinion of his comment. My opinion – it was a dick move. The president of the United States asks about your kids, their Christmas list, and wishes you a happy holiday and this guy comes back with a virtual “fuck Joe Biden.” His dick move took up a phone call that another child might have gotten to experience.
