Happy Friday! Some news items for you as we head into the weekend:
• AP News: People around the world are celebrating today as “Dolly Parton Day,” honoring the life, legacy, and philanthropic work of the iconic Dolly Parton. The date 9/25 is a playful nod to her famous hit song and movie “9 to 5.”
• The Advocate: Opinion writer Josh Ackley pens a spot-on piece about 20-year-old “looksmaxxing” influencer Clavicular, who faces charges of rape, drugging someone for sexual intercourse, and providing alcohol to a person under 21.
• New Music: MNEK is back with his sophomore album, Bulldozer. His new music video, “Muscle Marys,” should resonate with many members of the LGBTQ community who’ve felt isolated in the gym because of how they look compared to others. Nice visuals along the way 🙂
• Gayety: Mary Peltola’s U.S. Senate campaign is pushing back against allegations that the Alaska Democrat used an anti-gay slur and physically confronted a staffer, saying recent reporting exaggerated her behavior during one of the most difficult periods of her life.
• Washington Post: New Jersey Lt. Gov. Dale Caldwell (D) resigned after an independent investigation found that he sexually harassed a woman and violated state ethics rules.

• JoeMyGod: In a podcast appearance a few years ago, GOP congressional candidate Brandon Herrera implied COVID-19 “wasn’t bad enough” because not enough obese people died. “I’m of the opinion COVID wasn’t bad enough because if you had something that just unfairly targeted fucking fat people, I’m here for it.”
• Campaign 2026: The campaign of Kansas Democratic US Senate candidate Adam Hamilton dropped a killer ad highlighting incumbent GOP Sen. Roger Marshall’s history of having patients arrested for minor medical debt.
The ad features a one-time patient, Meischa Zimmerman, who Marshall had arrested while she was 8 months pregnant for owing him $50.
