Meta Removes, Then Restores, Gay LA Nightclub Accounts + More

Some news items I thought worth your time:

• The Advocate: Meta had to be shamed into restoring gay nightclubs’ pages on Facebook and Instagram after they were stripped of their accounts. The company only relented when politicians and the media got involved.

• The Hollywood Reporter: Hudson Williams shares how it felt to get back to work on Heated Rivalry after the show became a huge hit, making him and Connor Storrie famous overnight.

• Boy Culture: Matt Rettenmund chats with 80s/90s gay porn celeb Brett Winters (now 58) on being an outlier among surviving porn performers – not taking that part of his life seriously, avoiding personal struggles, and moving on to the next thing.

• Fort Worth Report: Pride Kel-So, an LGBTQ event held on ten acres owned by an Episcopal Church in Tarrant County, Texas, is being rescheduled to April after Southlake City Council unanimously denied the festival’s permit. The event’s original Oct. 3 date will now pivot into a block party capped at 999 attendees as that will not require a city permit.

• Yahoo News: A federal judge has temporarily blocked the Department of Homeland Security from conducting warrantless immigration raids on construction sites in southern Alabama in response to a lawsuit filed by a Latino construction worker who has been detained three times, despite being a U.S. citizen.

• JoeMyGod: After Texas state Rep. Brian Harrison attacked the University of North Texas for having an online LGBTQ archive, that he claimed “promoted transgenderism,” the school deleted the entire archive.
