Observing Labor Day 2026

I hope you all have an awesome Labor Day holiday in honor of American workers, who are the backbone, the very machine, that makes this country run.

Please remember it was hard working union members who fought for the 40 hour work week, overtime pay, family leave, health benefits, child labor laws and a whole lot of other things some folks take for granted today.

Labor Day began on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, when the Central Labor Union held a worker’s parade in New York City.

In 1894, President Grover Cleveland signed a law making the first Monday in September a national holiday.

I’m a proud union man having joined Actors Equity Association in 1984.

Enjoy your day off, if you’ve got one, and be nice as you encounter folks who don’t.
