House Rejects Amendment To Codify Anti-Trans Military Ban

By a vote of 212-217, the House of Representatives rejected an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would codify Donald Trump’s executive order banning transgender individuals from serving in the military into law.

The amendment was sponsored by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO). Four Republicans voted with Democrats to defeat the measure.

In June, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia voted 2-1 that Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth’s order to expel transgender service members who are currently serving was motivated by animus against trans people, violating their constitutional rights.
