U.S. Launches Strike Against Iran After Downing U.S. Helicopter

The U.S. has launched new strikes against Iran after Iranian forces shot down a U.S. Army helicopter last night.

From The Washington Post:

U.S. military officials said in a statement that it had begun launching “self-defense strikes” against Iran at Trump’s direction “in response to yesterday’s downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter.”

“The mission is a proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression,” the statement said.

The action came after the helicopter, carrying two U.S. soldiers, was downed on Monday evening while flying near the Strait of Hormuz. Trump said the crew members were “fine” — with no injuries — and said the United States “must, of necessity, respond to this attack.”

Didn’t Trump say Iran’s military capability was “decimated?”
