Woman Ticketed For Driving With Phone In Right Hand – Which She Doesn’t Have

A Florida woman was ticketed for texting with her cell phone in her right hand while driving. She doesn’t have a right hand.

The story went viral after the woman, Katie Thomas, an adaptive athlete known to TikTok followers as Slightlyoff.balance, shared the officer’s body-cam footage of the incident in February.

From Yahoo News:

In a bodycam video Katie shared to her TikTok, the Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy claimed he spotted her driving while using her phone in her “right hand.”

Katie immediately exposed the jaw-dropping mistake by lifting her right arm and pointing out the obvious: she has no right hand.

Despite the shocking blunder, the deputy still slapped Katie with a distracted driving citation carrying a $116 fine, per local outlet WPEC.

Katie didn’t back down, and instead spent months fighting the ticket before returning to TikTok on Wednesday May 27 to let her followers know authorities finally dismissed the citation over Memorial Day weekend.

“You guys, I cannot make up the reason why it was dismissed: It says, ‘Lack of evidence,’” she shared, while hoisting her right limb into the air. “Bruh, we knew that already!”

Dude just couldn’t admit he made a mistake…?

Cristian Benavides of CBS Mornings spoke with Katie about the incident.
