Some news stories you might have missed:
• New York Times: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (above) has won his GOP run-off against 4-term U.S. Sen. John Cornyn to run for Cornyn’s seat this fall against Democrat James Talarico. Trust and believe, Talarico’s campaign is happier running against ethics-challenged Paxton.
• OUT: Netflix has released new, first-look images for the upcoming movie Heartstopper Forever, which will bid a final farewell to young lovers Nick (Kit Conner) and Charlie (Joe Locke). The movie arrives July 17.
• Erin in the Morning: Maine’s Secretary of State has ruled that an anti-transgender campaign submitted invalid and forged signatures in its bid for a November ballot measure that sought to ban trans students from school sports and restrooms. As a result, the measure will not appear on the voting ballot this November.
• The Advocate: A gay Kentucky student went viral after denouncing homophobia and racism during a speech at his 8th-grade graduation as he left behind the campus he called an oppressive environment: “Apparently, this school doesn’t know better than to give an angry gay kid a microphone.” You must watch this.
• MSN: A retired police officer in Tennessee will receive an $835,000 settlement after getting put in jail for 37 days for a Facebook post he wrote about Charlie Kirk’s shooting.
• The Hollywood Reporter: Emmy Award winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus will make her Broadway debut in Other Desert Cities, alongside Oscar winners Allison Janney and Ed Harris. The fabulous Judith Light was Tony and Drama Desk Awards for her performance in the original Broadway run in 2011-2012.
