After more than 16 straight hours of negotiations, Vice President JD Vance announced the U.S. and Iran had not reached any agreement on ending the war.
According to reporting by the New York Times, three main sticking points remained: the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz; the fate of nearly 900 pounds of highly enriched uranium; and Iran’s demand that about $27 billion in frozen revenues held abroad be released.
Vance did not address whether the 2-week cease-fire with Iran would hold or what would happen to the Strait of Hormuz.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, who hosted yesterday’s negotiations in Islamabad, told CBS’s Face the Nation,“The talks are not dead. There’s a stalemate.”
In an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News, Donald Trump said that negotiations between the U.S. and Iranians got to a “friendly” place but were ultimately unsuccessful by due to Iran’s refusal to give up its nuclear program.

Trump at a UFC event last night told fighter Paulo Costa he’s too good-looking to fight.
“You’re a beautiful guy. You could be a model, you look so good.”

Meanwhile, as the negotiations collapsed, Trump was attending a U.F.C. fight in Miami with Marco Rubio, his secretary of state and national security adviser.
This morning, Trump announced the U.S. Navy would “blockade” the Strait of Hormuz after the unsuccessful talks.
