Donald Trump told reporters this afternoon that he’s “not at all” concerned about war crime implications if he follows through with his threat to bomb civilian infrastructure in Iran including bridges and power plants.
Trump has set a deadline of 8 p.m. ET tomorrow for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face attacks against critical infrastructure.
“We have a plan, because of the power of our military, where every bridge in Iran will be decimated by 12 o’clock tomorrow night,” Trump said in during the White House press conference.
He added that Iranian power plants would be left “burning, exploding and never to be used again. The entire country can be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night.”
As the office of the United Nations Secretary General António Guterres warned today, attacking civilian infrastructure is banned under international law.
