• The Advocate: The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has proposed formally removing federal regulations intended to ensure supportive foster placements for LGBTQ children. Foster homes could soon reject queer kids after Donald Trump’s administration proposed the new rule.
• Them: The fantastic documentary Come See Me In The Good Light is nominated at the upcoming Academy Awards.
The doc-film is a gorgeous portrait not just of beloved poet Andrea Gibson (who died of ovarian cancer last summer), but of their wife, fellow author Megan Falley; their wider community; and the strange, heart-wrenching process of anticipatory grief. Streaming on Apple TV.
• Washington Examiner: The Department of Homeland Security wasted millions of dollars in ordering 2,500 pick-up trucks and SUVs wrapped with flashy ICE logos. Obviously, ICE doesn’t want them now because they like to operate in stealth mode now. Where’s DOGE when you need it?
• CBS News: Trump says the U.S. war with Iran could almost be over. “I think the war is very complete, pretty much,” the president said, speaking from his Doral, Florida, golf club.
He added he’s consider taking over the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20% of the global oil supply flows.
