A 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis was shot and killed during an ICE operation Wednesday. The woman was reportedly shot in the head and declared dead at a hospital.
Details of the shooting are in dispute as local and federal officials are putting out conflicting reports.
Multiple videos of the shooting posted on social media show two federal agents trying to get the woman to exit a vehicle that is partially blocking a street. The driver reverses, then pulls forward. A third agent pulls out a gun and aims it at the driver, then fires three times.
Some folks are trying to justify the shooting saying the driver was attempting to run over the ICE officer. But you can clearly see the tires turning to the right trying to leave the area. With a vehicle moving that slowly, it doesn’t look like an attempt to hurt him.
Another angle of the ICE involved shooting in Minneapolis.

According to the New York Times (gift link):
• A Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman said in a statement that an agent had opened fire after a woman “weaponized her vehicle” in an attempt to kill federal officers.
Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism.…

• Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is urging people to stay calm and promises “a full, fair, and expeditious investigation.”
I’ve seen the video.
Don’t believe this propaganda machine.
The state will ensure there is a full, fair, and expeditious investigation to ensure accountability and justice. https://t.co/3faWW4bQvV

100% propaganda from DHS.

• Mayor Jacob Frey called her account “bullshit,” describing the shooting instead as “an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying, getting killed.”
On social media, Frey said, “We’re demanding ICE to leave the city immediately,” adding that “the presence of federal immigration enforcement agents is causing chaos in our city.”

• Chief Brian O’Hara of the Minneapolis Police Department said there was “nothing to indicate that this woman was the target of any law enforcement investigation or activity.”
• Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said in a statement that “if anyone broke the law in today’s act of violence, I will do all I can to ensure they are held accountable.” Mr. Ellison criticized the deployment of immigration officers to his state, saying it was “spreading terror throughout our communities.”
• Homeland Security Sec. Kristi Noem briefly addressed the shooting at an unrelated press conference in Texas shortly after the shooting event. With practically zero time for any investigation to have occurred, she described the incident as “an act of domestic terrorism.”
I’ll add, though, that I’ve seen some former ICE officials addressing the shooting today and one thing many noted was, in the past, any statement released by DHS so quickly after an event such as this would have been along the lines of “we promise a thorough and complete investigation.”
But Noem, from another state and hardly any investigation, jumped right to “an act of domestic terrorism.”
Speaking of “jumping to conclusions,” Donald Trump has already chimed in on his social media claiming the woman was “obviously, a professional agitator.” There have been no reports to support that conclusion.

This image captures the moment the agent fired his weapon for the second time.
I don’t know what else to say here. He’s at a 90 degree angle to the driver, his life is not at risk and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.
His goal in this moment is to shoot the driver. That’s it. pic.twitter.com/M3egZsAWMD
