Some news items for you as we head into the week:
• Wired: Apple has removed two of the most popular gay dating apps in China – Finka and Blued – from the App Store after receiving an order from China’s main internet regulator and censorship authority.
• Broadway World: Tony/Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth has returned to Broadway in The Queen of Versailles, now at the St. James Theatre. The new musical also stars Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham and is directed by Tony winner Michael Arden with music and lyrics by Oscar winner Stephen Schwartz. BW has a round-up of the reviews which were very mixed.
• LGBTQ Nation: Four people are dead and more than a dozen injured after a car crashed into the outdoor seating area in front of an LGBTQ nightclub in Tampa, Florida during last Saturday’s early morning hours. Helicopter footage of the police chase below.
• Them: Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is demanding the cancellation of a Christmas-themed drag show in Pensacola – featuring a lineup of RuPaul’s Drag Race stars – accusing the event of being obscene and “openly anti-Christian.”
• OUT: A year after being outed by an ex, R&B singer Khalid has responded to criticism from fans who say he’s become too gay: “I’m choosing to be true to myself.”

• The Advocate: Most LGBTQ+ members of Congress oppose the proposed deal to reopen the federal government.
• Queerty: Following an introduction by Chappell Roan, Cyndi Lauper was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and performed a medley of her hits including the gay anthem “True Colors” which featured a powerful moment honoring the Progress Pride Flag.
• Democracy Docket: The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments in a lawsuit challenging Mississippi’s mail-in ballot law which allows a five-day grace period for late-arriving ballots postmarked by Election Day.
• Washington Post: Donald Trump has pardoned Rudy Giuliani and a host of other prominent allies involved in his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
• Associated Press: Trump became the first sitting president in nearly a half-century at a regular-season NFL game, attending the Washington Commanders’ 44-22 loss to the visiting Detroit Lions on Sunday where he received loud boos from spectators.
