The folks behind the upcoming “Wicked: For Good” have announced there will be two new, original songs featured in the musical film written by Stephen Schwartz. Both leading ladies, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, will have new solo numbers.
The two songs penned by Schwartz for the second film are “No Place Like Home,” performed by Erivo as Elphaba, and “The Girl in the Bubble,” performed by Grande as Glinda.
But don’t expect to hear the new songs before moviegoers get to see them in the context of the movie as the soundtrack release date will be November 21, the same day the film hits theaters.
Both new songs should be Oscar-eligible being completely original pieces.

On top of the two freshly penned songs, Schwartz is promising additional material that has been incorporated into the more familiar songs being carried over from Act II of the stage musical.
“I’m especially happy that the soundtrack album for ‘Wicked: For Good’ has so much new music on it,” Schwartz said in a statement. “In addition to two brand new songs, there is a lot that’s new in several other existing songs.
“So not only listeners coming to the score for the first time, but long-time fans of the original Broadway cast album, will have a great deal to discover,” he added.
The composer-songwriter has previously shared that some material that was cut during development of the stage version will be included in the second film.
In related “Wicked” news – Amazon Prime members will soon be able to buy tickets to see the film on November 17, four days before the film’s wider release on November 21, in select theaters across the U.S. through Fandango.
The first “WICKED” film (2024) received ten nominations at the 97th Academy Awards (including Best Picture) and won Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.
It grossed $756.4 million worldwide on a $150 million budget, becoming the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2024.
