Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh has knocked out a terrific first half of the 2025 season. The 28-year-old has notched 36 home runs so far (a Mariners record) and will be a starter for the American League All-Star Team.
His big numbers have caught the attention of the entire baseball world, which also means that fans have also learned his team nickname: “The Big Dumper.”
During Tuesday night’s Mariners game against the New York Yankees, sportscaster Michael Kay shared the story behind Raleigh’s nickname as the catcher stood on first base after a walk.
And the cameraman understood the assignment.
LOL, You gotta love baseball.
