In a party line vote, the Senate Finance Committee voted to forward the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to run the Department of Health and Human Services. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA), a physician who had been on the fence about Kennedy (a longtime anti-vaccine activist), cast the deciding vote.

Shortly before casting his vote in favor of Kennedy, Senator Bill Cassidy, the Louisiana Republican considered a potential deciding vote, said in a statement that he had received “serious commitments” from the Trump administration in exchange for his support of Kennedy’s confirmation.
Cassidy said that he was engaged in intense conversations with both Kennedy and the White House since his confirmation hearing.
Read more here. When Cassidy says “intense conversations” in his tweet below, what he really means is “intense pressure” from the White House. Trust and believe – Cassidy would never approve someone like Kennedy unless he felt his own political future was insecure.
