Vice President Kamala Harris has reached out to speak with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis about storm recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene bashed the Sunshine State and Hurricane Milton is on its way. But NBC News reports DeSantis is “not taking calls” from Harris even as his state is reeling from the storm destruction.

From NBC News:
A source familiar with the situation said he was dodging the Democratic presidential nominee’s calls because they “seemed political,” according to a DeSantis aide.
“Kamala was trying to reach out, and we didn’t answer,” the DeSantis aide told NBC News.
The same person said “not to my knowledge” when asked if DeSantis had spoken to President Joe Biden.
It seems to me the call wasn’t ‘political’ as these communications happen during disasters. But I would say refusing the calls seems ‘political’ on DeSantis’ side. If he didn’t answer it how does he know it was political? Seems that’s her job.
