The off-Broadway hit Oh, Mary! will transfer to Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre for a 12-week limited run beginning June 26. According to press materials, the play (written and starring Cole Escola) shares a new side of former First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln—as a madcap, cabaret-obsessed alcoholic. The play takes place in the weeks before President Lincoln’s assassination. The piece premiered at Off-Broadway’s Lucille Lortel Theatre earlier this year in a run that was extended three times. The production earned three 2024 Outer Critics Circle nominations, including Outstanding New American Play, and performance nods for Escola and Conrad Ricamora (President Lincoln). Cole stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers in full Mary Lincoln drag to discuss the play’s success.
