Report: Associate Urged Trump To Return Classified Docs A Year Before Raid

Newly unsealed documents in Donald Trump’s classified documents case shows an associate of the Donald told the FBI they had advised the former president to return the docs to the National Archives almost a year before agents searched and found the files at Mar-a-Lago. And yet, he did not… https://twitter.com/axios/status/1782660960638943355 From Axios:

The summary of the unnamed associate’s FBI interview was among a trove of documents that the judge handling Trump’s classified documents case released with redactions on Monday.

The associate, identified in the filings only as “person 16,” told the FBI that they had said to Trump while at Mar-a-Lago in Florida: “Whatever you have, give everything back. Let them come here and get everything. Don’t give them a noble reason to indict you, because they will.”

The associate claimed Trump gave a “weird ‘you’re the man’ type of response” and was left with the impression that the former president would return the documents to the National Archives.

The summary notes that one of Trump’s children was approached by person 16 regarding the documents: “There are issues with the boxes. They belong to the government, talk to your dad about giving them back. It’s not worth the aggravation.” Person 16 also told the FBI that Trump offered now-co-defendant Walt Nauta a pardon — in 2024 — “even if he gets charged with lying to the FBI.” https://twitter.com/JoeMyGod/status/1782732677394620752
