Judge Issues Trump Gag Order After Court Clerk Attack

Donald Trump got a sharp rebuke from the judge overseeing the civil lawsuit against him today after the Donald attacked Judge Arthur Engoron’s clerk on social media, including a photo and a link to her Instagram account. https://twitter.com/CalltoActivism/status/1709284532434633071 Without naming Trump by name, the judge addressed the court thusly:

“This morning, one of the defendants posted on social media account a disparaging untrue and personally-identifying post about a member of my staff. Although I have since ordered the post deleted, and apparently it was, it was also emailed out to millions of other recipients.

“Personal attacks of any member of my court staff are unacceptable, inappropriate, and I will not tolerate them.”

“Consider this statement an order forbidding all parties from posting, emailing, or speaking publicly about any members of my staff. Failure to abide by this .. will result in serious sanctions.”

https://twitter.com/MSNBC/status/1709291480680992943 Trump had attacked Engoron’s clerk, claiming she was a “girlfriend” to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). “How disgraceful!” captioned Trump. “This case should be dismissed immediately.” There’s no known connection between the clerk and the senator. The photo reportedly came from the clerk’s Instagram account. The photo of Schumer and the clerk was shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) last week by a little-known account. That post did not allege that the clerk was Schumer’s girlfriend, just that the two were “palling around.” Trump editorialized the line about the clerk being romantically involved. Trump also included a link to the clerk’s Instagram account for his minions to attack her. https://twitter.com/ResisterSis20/status/1709302688033235409
