Colorado Democrats voted Wednesday to censure Gov. Jared Polis, a fellow Democrat, for commuting the prison sentence of former county clerk Tina Peters, who had been serving nine years in state prison after being convicted of tampering with voting systems.

Peters was convicted in 2024 of four felony and three misdemeanor charges related to a breach of voting systems after she used another person’s security badge to grant access to someone associated Trump-supporting election deniers. CO Gov. Polis Commutes Prison Sentence Of Tina Peters

Convicted former county clerk Tina Peters was granted clemency today by Gov. Jared Polis

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) has granted clemency to Tina Peters, a former county clerk convicted on charges related to a scheme to bolster Donald Trump’s false claims that the 2020 election was stolen.

In 2022, prosecutors accused her of helping to secretly copy voting machine hard drives by allowing a computer expert into secure areas of her office using someone else’s security badge. Trump Vetoes Safe Water Bill In Revenge Campaign Against Colorado

Donald Trump’s first veto of his second term kills a bill unanimously passed by both the House and Senate to fund a major safe drinking water project in Colorado.

Trump has been on a vengeance campaign against Colorado for imprisoning his ally, Tina Peters. Peters was a former Mesa County clerk who was sentenced to nine years in prison for her role in the security breach at her local elections office during the 2020 election.
