Susan Lucci’s new series “Devious Maids” gets picked up

Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives creator) has adapted the telenovela Ellas son la Alegría del Hogar, which has now been picked up with a 13-episode order.

Ex-Housewife Eva Longoria is one of the executive producers.

This should give series regular Susan Lucci plenty to talk about  on the Daytime Emmy red carpet. The All My Children legend stars as Genevieve Delacort, a loopy, aging socialite, prone to suicide attempts, and taking much younger lovers.

Apparently, Lucci was testing through the roof for Lifetime, courtesy of her guest stints on Army Wives. I’m guessing that made this happen – and I for one am glad. Everyone I know who’s met Ms. Lucci says wonderful things about her.

Susan Lucci is a hot property in Hollywood these days

Susan Lucci, who has already landed a prime role in Marc Cherry’s soapy pilot “Devious Maids,” has just booked a recurring guest-starring spot on “Army Wives,” reuniting her with former “AMC” costar Kim Delaney.

Lifetime announced that Lucci will make several special appearances in a recurring role as Audrey, the wife of a retired Brigadier General. Her first episode, “Learning Curve,” airs Sunday, March 18 at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.

“Army Wives” follows the adventures of a group of women living on an active army post and is currently in its sixth season. Lucci recently guest-starred on TV Land’s “Hot in Cleveland.

Susan Lucci Calls Out ABC Exec for Cancellation of “All My Children”

With only three weeks of ‘All My Children’ left to go in the soap opera’s legendary 41-year run, the show’s stars are finally starting to speak out. Susan Lucci blasts ABC daytime exec Brian Frons in an epilogue to the upcoming paperback edition of her book, ‘All My Life,’ saying “I watched Brian Frons’ decisions destroy the production of our show and the lives of people on both sides of the country.”

According to the New York Post, which obtained text from the epilogue, Lucci’s criticisms weren’t limited to Frons’ business decisions — she also says that Frons appeared “self-congratulatory” when he informed the ‘AMC’ cast of the decision to cancel the long-running soap, and that he “has what, for me, is that fatal combination of ignorance and arrogance. I cannot fathom any network executive choosing to alienate millions of loyal viewers in these economic times.”

Don’t think that this is the first time Frons will hear of Lucci’s discontent. The star says she personally told him, “I think our being in this position is the result of some very bad decisions by you,” including the hiring of Chuck Pratt as head writer in 2008, moving the show to Los Angeles from new York, and getting rid of creator Agnes Nixon.
