New Zealand All Blacks Perform World Cup Winning Haka

I’ve previously written about the tradition of New Zealanders performing a “Haka” before athletic events.

A Haka is a traditional ancestral war cry, dance or challenge of the Māori people of New Zealand which the New Zealand national rugby union team, the All Blacks, and a number of other New Zealand national teams perform before their international matches.

Done well, a Haka is dramatic and powerful. And really kinda sexy. No one does this better than the New Zealand All Blacks.

Before the World Cup Finals yesterday, which saw the All Blacks triumphant over the Wallabies of Australia, the All Blacks chose to set the tone with a ‘Kapa O Panga’ Haka.

After the match, and securing the first back-to-back World Cups, the men of the All Blacks came back a traditional ‘Ka Mate’ Haka dedicated to their fans and to six departing team mates, facing their newly won trophy.

DWTS’ Carlos PenaVegas Serves Up ‘Magic Mike’-Style Rumba

Boy bander Carlos PenaVegas, of Big Time Rush, is a no-brainer as the hottest celeb cast member on this season of Dancing With the Stars.

But Carlos got a little uptight last week when assigned the “Magic Mike” dance moment “Pony” to reinvent.

His religious convictions held him back at first, but with some coaxing from Witney, he comes out of his shell.

And his t-shirt.

Trailer: Vampire Strippers Must Die!

So, it appears if you can’t make it with the world famous Chippendales, you might end up in a male revue touring Romania.

Of course, there’s always that pesky vampire problem there.

Here’s the synopsis for the over-the-top comedy flick from the project’s Indiegogo page:

While the Chips perform in London, Paris, and Milan, the men of OVERNIGHT MALE are stuck playing low rent beer bars in Bulgaria. And after six weeks on tour, everyone is getting cranky. The straight strippers and the gay strippers are ready to kill each other, and the only thing holding the group together is their geeky and resourceful tour manager, Jake. No matter what Eastern Europe throws at them, Jake’s been able to handle it: aggressive fans, thieving bar owners, broken buses, and even the occasional need for bail money.

Vampires, though? That’s a new one…

Vampire Strippers Must Die! is a zany comedy about a group of American male strippers on tour in Eastern Europe who are forced to battle an army of bloodsucking undead. It features great dance numbers, epic fight scenes, and lots of funny character moments.

As silly as it all may seem, the project has real talent lined up: the script for Vampire Strippers Must Die! won first place at the New York Gay & Lesbian Film Festival’s screenplay competition.

Additionally, this will be the third feature film from writer-director, Keith Hartman. His first two flicks, You Should Meet My Son! and Real Heroes, won “Best Picture” at nine film festivals, as well as awards for “Best Director”, “Best Screenplay’, and several “Best Actor” awards for members of the cast.

Oh – and a costume designer who’s won “Best in Show” at the San Diego Comic Con Masquerade – four times.

Commercial: Calvin Klein Jeans Gets All Sexty

One of five images in the new Calvin Klein Jeans campaign

In a departure from recent celebrity driven ad campaigns, Calvin Klein Jeans is turning to a social media/sexting environment for it’s latest approach to jeans sales clearly targeting the millennials.

The initial commercial features all kinds of connections, including gay and straight couples (and truples) and more.

From WWD:

“Hahah a light threesome never hurt anyone ☺ ☺ ☺” reads the corresponding text message box alongside one of five Calvin Klein Jeans campaign images, a gritty black-and-white photo of two women lounging beside a shirtless man, made to look like it was shot moments before engaging in the suggested act. Another image depicts a woman in an open relationship that is texting with a potential hookup, assuring him that her boyfriend is “cool” with her doing whatever she wants (it’s unclear which paramour she’s pictured with).

“Our past campaigns have been more image-driven and this one was about starting a conversation through provocation,” Melisa Goldie, Calvin Klein Inc. chief marketing officer, told WWD about the next phase of #mycalvins campaign that hits today. The inaugural #mycalvins underwear campaign hit in February 2014 and expanded to include denim in October.

Check out the gay couple from the spot below, followed by the full one minute commercial.
