Photography: “Touching Strangers”

I love photographer Richard Renaldi’s work.

Longtime readers of The Randy Report may remember my post about his “Hotel Room Portraits.”

The photos featured in this post are just a few from a project Renaldi has been working on titled “Touching Strangers.”

Renaldi began his Touching Strangers project in 2007. His aim was simple: to encourage people to break away from who they are and pose with complete strangers with their bodies touching in some way.

Renaldi states that while some people pose awkwardly with one another, others are comfortable almost straight away. Some hold hands, or kiss one another on the cheek.

Who do you sense is comfortable? And who do you see as awkward or “out of their comfort zone?”

And you can check out Renaldi’s Kickstarter campaign here, where he’s already raised 5 times his goal with 14 days left in the campaign. People like what they see.

Congratulations Richard!

Richard Renaldi – Hotel Room Portraits pt.2

Last year, I wrote about photographer Richard Renaldi’s terrific ongoing project of taking “hotel room portraits” with his partner Seth Boyd.

The project continues and I love the atmosphere and “moment in time” aspect of each photo in each locale.  I thought I’d post a quick update of some pics added to his collection

Renaldi’s simple ritual of a photographic record of his hotel stays with his partner creates a warm portait of intimacy.

“Hotel Room Portraits” By Richard Renaldi

New York-based Richard Renaldi is a gifted photographer whose work is exhibited internationally and has been published in The Advocate, GQ, Out, Time and Vogue.

One of Renaldi’s ongoing projects is the series of intimate portraits he shoots of himself and partner Seth Boyd in hotel rooms around the globe. This stylish, playful and fascinating body of work is also a document of Renaldi and Boyd’s longtime relationship.

Btw – you may notice – they are very easy on the eyes.

Some of my favorite images from the couple’s travels below.  I’m not sure why, but the Missoula, Montana, pic is my favorite.  Maybe because of all my traveling.
