New Music: Mika “Good Guys”

Out recording artist Mika drops his newest music video, “Good Guys,” from his fourth studio album No Place In Heaven.

With creative and theatrical staging, Mika expresses his frustrations with the gay community throughout the video – “where have all the gay guys gone?” – while he searches for a “good guy.”

Mika quotes Oscar Wilde’s for his chorus, ‘If we are all in the gutter, it doesn’t change who we are/cause some of us in the gutter are looking up at the stars.’

Later he acknowledges many of the gay icons who came before him including W.H. Auden, James Dean, Jean Cocteau, Wilfred Owen and others.

The single is available now; the full album release date is June 16th.

Music: Adam Lambert “Underground”

The second single from Adam Lambert’s upcoming album The Original High.

What begins as a mournful, piano-driven ballad churns into a driving beat of intense desire. After this and first single “Ghost Town,” it looks like the new album is going to have some serious emotional punch.

The album drops June 16th.

Music Video: Bright Light Bright Light & Ana Matronic “Good Luck”

Bright Light Bright Light (Rod Thomas) teams up with former Scissor Sisters vocalist Ana Matronic with this track from the coming Life Is Easy remix album. The duo collaborated earlier this year covering the Pet Shop Boys classic West End Girls in a charity single for NYC’s Hetrick-Martin Institute, which serves at-risk LGBT youth.

Award-winning singer/songwriter Matt Zarley continues his UnCOVERED series of cover songs with the Tony Rich hit “Nobody Knows” from 1996.

Jeb Havens & Michael Powers Cover “Enough” By Reba McEntire & Jennifer Nettles

The universe has a fantastic way of taking care of us, don’t you know?

Just in time for Hump Day (or should it be “Hunk Day?”), woofy Jeb Havens and Michael Powers share their take on the Reba McEntire/Jennifer Nettles hit “Enough” from Reba’s new album Love Somebody (currently number one on the iTunes Country chart).

Following in the tradition of Haven’s “Closet Covers,” the two songsters recorded their separate vocals from their respective closets in Los Angeles and Chicago.

The guys shared this with the video on YouTube:

We both love this amazing song from Reba’s new album so decided to record a cover from our closets in Los Angeles and Chicago. Please share the video if you like it. Maybe then even Reba herself might see it someday. 🙂

So, let’s see if we can make that happen. Share this link all over your social media, kids 🙂

Havens is a Randy Report favorite having stopped internet traffic with his heartbreaking cover of “Fast Car” last year. Find more of my coverage of Havens here.
