Donald J. Trump declined to correct a supporter of his who alleged that President Barack Obama is Muslim and not an American. http://cnn.it/1Ku44k6″We have a problem in this country. It’s called Muslims,” said the unidentified man who spoke at a question-and-answer town hall event in Rochester, New Hampshire. “You know our current president is one. Donald Trump has spent months telling the U.S. what a great leader he will be for the country, and how he will bring the country together. But last night, when asked by an anti-Muslim supporter about how to “

“We have a problem in this country, it’s called Muslims. We know our current president is one, you know he’s not even an American. But anyway, we have training camps growing where they want to kill us. That’s my question, when can we get rid of them?”

Trump’s answer?

“Right. We’re going to be looking at a lot of things. A lot of people are saying that. A lot of people are saying bad things are happening. We’re going to be looking at that and plenty of other things.”

First of all, how vague can you get? And second, Muslim Americans are Americans too. I’m not sure if a lot of these extremists don’t know the difference between Muslims and Islamists.

Also – it is well documented that President Obama is a Christian and was born in Hawaii in 1961.

In 2008, John McCain faced a similar question from one of his supporters. His response was “No mam, he is not an Arab, he is a decent man, family man, citizen, that I just happen to have disagreements with”.

THAT is how you as a presidential candidate respond to misguided people. That is an honorable way to keep yourself above the nonsense.

Donald Trump is no John McCain.

Democratic White House contender Hillary Clinton was swift to share her thoughts:

White House Condemns Shooting At Texas Muhammad Cartoon Contest

The White House on Monday condemned a shooting at a controversial cartoon contest in Texas, saying that while Muslims may have found the event offensive there is no justification for violence.

Two gunmen were shot and killed by a security guard Sunday night after opening fire at a Garland event that offered a $10,000 prize for the best cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad. One security guard was injured in the assault.

“We have seen extremists try to use expressions that they considered to be offensive as a way to justify violence not only in this country but around the world, and in the mind of the president there is no form of expression that would justify an act of violence,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters aboard Air Force One. “We saw a pretty important and notable display of bravery on the part of first responders and … because of their courage the only person that was injured by these gunmen was a security officer.”
