Miami: Food Network Star Guy Fieri Officiates 101 Same-Sex Weddings

Food Network star Guy Fieri took some time out from this weekend’s South Beach Wine and Food Festival to marry 101 same-sex couples.

Sponsored by celeb chef Art Smith (formerly Oprah’s personal chef) the event also saw star power via Food Network host Ted Allen, and Ace of Cakes chef Duff Goldman. Plus, it looks like Absolut threw in some liquid support.

Thanks to everyone who took part. Congratulations to the happy couples!

Circuit Judge Lifts Stay On Same-Sex Marriage in Miami-Dade County 12 Hours Early

The Miami Herald reports:

In an 11 a.m. hearing, Circuit Judge Sarah Zabel lifted the legal stay she had placed on her sweeping July decision declaring the ban discriminatory.

Clerk of Courts Harvey Ruvin said same-sex marriages would begin at 2 p.m. Elsewhere in Florida, most court clerks will start marrying gay couples Tuesday — some of them at 12:01 a.m. — following a federal judge’s order.

Several counties in conservative North Florida and the Tampa Bay area have stopped marrying people altogether, in part to avoid marrying same-sex couples.

In addition, Judge Zabel has agreed to marry the plaintiff couples today.

Congrats Florida!

UPDATE: The plaintiffs in the Miami-Dade lawsuit have their marriage license!

Here’s the moment when Judge Zabel lifted the stay.

‎”Another day where the plaintiffs do not have equal rights is another day that shames our nation.”

“I’m lifting the stay.”

Miami Beach says ‘Hey!’

Hubby Michael and I on Miami Beach for a moment.  Merry, merry everyone!

Only found about 20 minutes to enjoy the actual ‘beach’ at Miami Beach this trip, but it was beautiful weather.

Nice company, too.

Watching the snow in Chicago now on layover as United Airlines pulls a light bulb from a plane so we can take off and get home.  Delayed two hours so far.

More wine!
