Las Vegas: Check out “The Biz” at Share Nightclub

Starting tonight, Share Nightclub will host “The Biz: A Weekly Cast Party for Everyone” on Wednesdays (dark 3rd Wednesday of the month).

Each week Edie, Las Vegas actor, singer and dancer from the Las Vegas Strip will host “The Biz” giving an illusion of a New York cabaret show featuring the finest in Las Vegas entertainment on and off the Strip.

From Edit: “Since moving to Vegas four years ago from Manhattan, I’ve had a very strong desire to create a night that would bring the entire entertainment community together. We all work so hard we never get a chance to see one another. I personally do ten shows a week and Wednesdays are my Saturday. Wednesdays are traditionally a very slow night everywhere so I thought it would be a perfect for cast and crew of ‘all’ shows to hang out, sing, dance, laugh, decompress.”

Each week entertainers, singers, dancers, aerialist, poets, actors, comedians and more will perform live with a little drinking and comedy mixed in.  ‘It’s what happens after the shows.’

The Green Room opens at 10 PM with 2-4-1 cocktails. Doors to the cabaret open at 11 PM and the show goes on until late in the morning on the 1st, 2nd & 4th Wednesdays.

KISS opens Monster Mini-Golf in Las Vegas

It’s just an ordinary day in the always unique and exciting Las Vegas.

Legendary rockers KISS are unveiling their new indoor, glow-in-the-dark KISS by Monster Mini Golf opposite the Hard Rock Hotel that includes a rock and roll all-night snack bar, a gift shop, a private VIP room and a KISS Gallery.

Gene, Paul, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer will join owners Cristina and Patrick Vitagliano for the slashing of the ceremonial ribbon and host the first tour.

Forget about a red carpet: This one’s black! Rick Harrison from “Pawn Stars,” the gorgeous topless beauties from “Fantasy” at the Luxor and “Crazy Horse Paris” at MGM Grand, “The Bachelor” star Jake Pavelka and his Chippendales hunks (Jake is serving as guest host at the Rio headliner show through April 1), Joey Fatone and Anthony Cools are scheduled to rock the carpet.

Over the past few months, contributing photographer Erik Kabik has shot award-winning photographs of Las Vegas celebrities and VIPs in authentic KISS boots. All will be on display in the KISS Gallery as of tonight, and 100 percent of the sales — along with the first putting on the greens — will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

KISS has recorded 37 albums in 36 years since they formed in New York in 1972. They’ve sold more than 100 million albums, and they are Las Vegas regulars, with Paul keeping a penthouse condo at the Palms and Gene regularly filming segments for his reality TV series “Family Jewels” here.

KISS by Monster Mini Golf was founded in 2004 and has 30 18-hole miniature golf courses in the U.S.; however, ours is the first KISS-themed venue. All I can say is that this will be no ordinary “tee time” this afternoon.

Santana staying in Sin City

Carlos Santana seems to really like playing in Las Vegas.

After spending two years performing on and off at Sin City’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the legendary guitarist has just booked a residency at Mandalay Bay’s House of Blues which will run through 2013.

Santana kicks off with a run of shows in May and June and then returns in September.

Tickets go on sale March 3rd and some proceeds will go to Santana’s foundation, which supports children’s art, education and health.

“Phantom – the Las Vegas Spectacular” will close in September

(AP) The Las Vegas version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” is planning its last performance in September.

The cast of “Phantom — The Las Vegas Spectacular” will take a final bow on Sept. 2 after a six-year run.

Producer Scott Zeiger says the show at the Venetian casino on the Las Vegas Strip has had a triumphant run.

The production is housed in a custom built replica of the famed Paris Opera House. It features a $5 million chandelier that nearly crashed into the audience during each performance as a special effect.

“The Phantom of the Opera” celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2011. It has played to more than 130 million people in 27 countries and has grossed more than $5.6 billion worldwide.

Vanessa Williams – New Year’s Eve, Las Vegas

For the past 27 years, Vanessa Williams has been a successful model, a television, stage and film actress, a producer and a singer.

Perhaps you saw her in Kiss of the Spiderwoman on Broadway in 1994, Into The Woods in 2002, Sondheim on Sondheim in 2010,  in Eraser with Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1996, on Ugly Betty in 2006 or the past two years in Desperate Housewives. Or in ANY of the long list of credits she has amassed over a stellar career.

But it’s her singing career that brings her to Las Vegas this month. Williams is kicking off the New Year in Las Vegas, where fans can expect to hear her hits and more. She’s known in the singing arena for “The Way That You Love,” “Save the Best for Last,” perhaps her biggest hit, and “Colors of the Wind,” from the movie Pocahontas.

She has also been nominated and won more awards than I can count, and she’s still making fantastic music.

Caesars Entertainment rates a perfect score from Human Rights Campaign

Caesars Entertainment Corporation was awarded its fifth consecutive perfect rating from the Human Rights Campaign’s annual Corporate Equality Index. The Corporate Equality Index rates businesses based on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workplace policies.

“Caesars Entertainment is proud to be the only gaming company this year to have received a perfect rating from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation on its Corporate Equality Index,” said Fred Keeton, vice president of finance, external affairs and chief diversity officer for Caesars Entertainment.

“Through leading edge diversity initiatives and our valued relationship with this important organization, we look forward to the coming years and plan to continue to lead the way in LGBT workplace equality.”

The ‘five-peat’ is a reflection of Caesars long-time commitment to create and facilitate programs and policies that are offered to all of its employees and guests. Specific to its LGBT employees, the company enforces its comprehensive non-discrimination policies, provides domestic partner benefits (including health care) and will offer benefit coverage for gender reassignment.

Keeton stressed that the company is a large supporter of the LGBT community and seeks to provide a world-class experience for all of its guests. LGBT guests are treated with the utmost respect and are encouraged to take part in pioneered LGBT events and offerings (e.g. Gay weddings and commitment ceremonies, honeymoon packages, nightlife and PRIDE events).

I’m proud to have a “one degree of separation” with Caesars Entertainment as my husband Michael is the national press rep for Chippendales, which is at the Rio Hotel and Casino – a Caesars property in Las Vegas. I’ve always been very proud of the fact that gay men are always welcome at Chippendales, and always treated with respect at the show.

With the huge amount of recreation travel dollars the LGBT community can spend, it pays to make sure we spend our money where it’s appreciated. I encourage everyone to take a look at the Corporate Equality Index to know where and to who your dollars go.

D.C. Architecture Firm Creates Gingerbread Las Vegas

An architecture firm located in Downtown D.C. created “Gingertown: Elf Vegas”, a gingerbread representation of Sin City, for public viewing.

David M. Schwarz Architects created Elf Vegas out of sprinkles, jelly beans, and tons of other candies.

The exhibit, which is on display until Friday, December 2, in the lobby of the building at 1050 Connecticut Avenue in Northwest, will eventually be broken down and donated to local charities.

Police make arrest in Las Vegas bartender’s murder

Las Vegas Metro Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a local bartender.

Homicide detectives arrested Tracy Kaufmann, 50, of Knoxville, Tennessee. The shooting happened early Monday morning at The Garage bar.

Las Vegas Metro Police say the shooting was not the result of a robbery. They are currently looking into other motives. Friends and the bar’s owners have confirmed, the victim is Phil Wells.

The Garage is a gay bar and the LGBT community is shocked but pulling together for someone many knew. Candles and flowers lay near one of the entrances to the bar.

“Phll is an amazing soul. He’ll give the shirt off his back to you. Always had a smile on his face and he would never do anything to hurt anybody. This is completely out of the blue,” friend Brandon Busche said.

It didn’t take long for the news to spread of the shooting of their friend.

“We saw him yesterday before he started working. He’s a friendly guy who doesn’t deserve this. He’d go out of his way for anybody. Friendly smile, friendly gesture,” friend Matthew Shatswell added.

Matthew Shatwell and Brandon Busche are frequent visitors to The Garage. They say the security and the service is what keeps them coming back.

“This is a very safe bar. It’s clean, the owners, keep it run very well. It’s a safe place for us to come and hang out,” Busche said.

Friends say they are not aware of anyone who would want to hurt Wells.

“He had no enemies. He welcomed anybody with a huge smile and a huge hug,” Shatswell said.

A candlelight vigil is planned for Phil Wells Monday at 8 p.m.
