Follow him on Instagram here. • The Advocate: Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly, a Democrat in a state with a GOP-controlled legislature, has quietly implied she may veto an anti-transgender bill that would bar trans girls and women from competing on female sports teams at the state’s public schools, colleges, and universities. • Gr8erDays: Tony Danza (Taxi, Who’s The Boss?) turns 70 today. The forever hunk never stops working it seems from his TV shows to Broadway (The Producers, Honeymoon in Vegas) to hosting gigs. In a statement, iHeartRadio called the tweet “completely inappropriate and unacceptable.” Baker blamed the ‘mistake’ on being “a fat-fingered boomer on Twitter.”
This is a tweet that was posted then quickly deleted by Nebraska radio host @CBakerShow when the verdict was announced in the Derek Chauvin trial.
Racism like this is a FEATURE of conservative talk radio but they usually mask it with dog whistles. But not this time. @kfabnewspic.twitter.com/3lr5TFyBhi — Senator McCollister (@SenMcCollister) April 21, 2021
Elton JohnDeadline reports international pop star Elton John will host a celebrity TV concert on Fox TV this Sunday.
Fox TV and iHeartMedia are bringing out some big guns in the coronavirus relief effort. Elton John is to host Fox Presents The iHeart Living Room Concert for America, an hourlong special set to air commercial-free from 9-10 p.m. Sunday, March 29 — in the slot that had been set for the iHeartRadio Music Awards.
The program comes at a time when concerts have been sidelined by the COVID-19 outbreak and many artists are giving free concerts online. It will feature performances by such stars as Billie Eilish, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Tim McGraw, Backstreet Boys, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, and others — all filmed from their homes using their own audio and video equipment. The special will be simulcast on iHeartMedia stations nationwide and its app.
The iHeart Living Room Concert for America also will pay tribute to the front-line health professionals, first responders and local heroes who are putting themselves in harm’s way to help their neighbors and fight the spread of the coronavirus. It also will encourage viewers to support Feeding America and First Responders Children’s Foundation — two of the many charitable organizations helping victims and first responders during the pandemic.
I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their support and listenership of The Randy Report podcast as it continues, thankfully, to expand its reach.
I launched the podcast in the fall of 2015 on BlogTalkRadio, having hosted an online radio show there, titled The Candi & Randy Show from 2012 through 2014, with the fabulous Candi Fox.
Instead of a live show, however, I wanted to create a kind of ‘companion piece’ to The Randy Report blog. I felt like there was space for a ‘LGBTQ news magazine’ in the podcasting universe.
Like the blog, I wanted the podcast to reflect my tastes in how I want to access news: brief, easy to understand reports across the LGBTQ political, pop culture and entertainment spectrum.
I moved TRR podcast to Soundcloud as the sound quality was much better, and the ‘back office’ options for following statistics were much more robust.
For instance, in the past twelve months, aside from the United States, my biggest block of listeners come from Germany and the UK, followed closely by Australia.
In the past year, I’m thrilled to see folks approach me to syndicate the podcast making my ’60 Minutes of gay news – only shorter’ that much more available.
Currently, you can listen and/or subscribe to The Randy Report podcast (for free!):
For portability, its useful to know all of those outlets have apps you can install on your phone – for free!
Additionally, my friend Scott Fullerton has added my episodes to his Wednesday three-hour block of LGBTQ programming on his Left Of Str8 online radio channel.
Thanks again for listening, everyone. It’s always much more fun doing this with you all taking the ride with me.
Happy Saturday!
p.s. since I’m talking podcast, here’s a player with the most recent episodes 🙂
