President Trump’s Approval Numbers Hit New Low In Gallup Poll

President Trump’s approval number hits a new low of 37% on Gallup’s daily tracking poll.

His disapproval sitting at 58% means the president is 21 points underwater.

Gallup tracks daily the percentage of Americans who approve or disapprove of the job Donald Trump is doing as president. Daily results are based on telephone interviews with approximately 1,500 national adults

States With The Most (and Least) Self-Identified LGBTs

After interviewing almost 500,000 randomly selected adults in the U.S., a new Gallup survey finds the state with the highest percentage of self-identified LGBTs was Vermont with 5.3% of its citizens identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.

5.3% – Vermont
4.9% – Massachusetts, California and Oregon
4.8% – Nevada

The District of Columbia (obviously not a state) had the highest population of LGBTs with 8.6%.

Which states have the smallest populations of LGBTs?

2% – South Dakota
2.7% – North Dakota
2.8% – Idaho
3% – South Carolina, Montana

Interesting to note: other than Nevada, the areas with the highest number of LGBTs tend to be coastal states. Those states with the lowest numbers tend to be in midwestern and southern states.

These figures indicate a rise in the nationwide LGBT population from 3.5% in 2012 to 4.1% in 2016.

Gallup believes that social acceptance is the leading factor to more Americans being willing to be open about their sexuality. The vast majority of increases in these numbers come from millennials.

Gallup Poll: Hillary Clinton’s Net Favorable Approval Surpasses Bernie Sanders

Gallup Polling reports Hillary Clinton's Net Favorable Approval Rating has surpassed Sen. Bernie Sanders by 11 points

Good news for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton as Gallup reports her Favorable score has not only surged in just the past few weeks, but surpassed her opponent, Sen. Bernie Sanders by 11 points.

Clinton’s net favorable score stands at +55 for the week of Feb. 18-24, 2016, a 10-percentage-point increase from her low point recorded over Jan. 27-Feb.10. This latter time period overlapped with her landslide loss to Sanders in the New Hampshire primary.

Sanders’ net favorable over the past week, by contrast, stands at +44, well below Clinton’s score and a steep fall from the +57 he boasted in late January/early February.

Gallup Poll Shows Jeb Bush Net Favorable Rating Dropped 28 Points In Six Month

According to the latest Gallup U.S. Daily poll, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has seen his net favorable rating among Republicans drop a precipitous 28 points to a sad -1. He currently has a 44% Favorable rating versus his 45% Unfavorable rating.

That means Bush has the worst Net Favorable rating in terms of major political players in the GOP race.

Donald Trump comes in with 35% Unfavorable rating, second only to Bush. Think on that one for the current front runner – 35% of what should be his base have a negative view of him.

Interestingly, Sen. Ted Cruz has the lowest Unfavorable rating with only 16% of Republicans viewing him in negative terms.

Gallup Poll: Support For Same-Sex Marriage Stable After SCOTUS Ruling

According to the latest Gallup poll, support for same-sex marriage in the U.S. has not been affected since the historic ruling by the Supreme Court in late June.

The decision was consistent with American public’s opinion on the issue.

Americans’ support for gay marriage has increased over time, from 27% in 1996, the first time Gallup asked about it, to the current 58%.

A consistent majority has favored it since 2011, including a high of 60% in May of this year.

The two-percentage-point difference between the May and July estimates is not statistically meaningful.

Gallup Poll: Approval For Same-Sex Marriage Reaches New High

Gallup Polling reports that support for same-sex marriage has reached all-time highs among both political parties, which overall support now at 60%. This is up from last year’s “all-time high” of 55%.

The numbers break down like this: Democrats at 76% support, independents at 64% and Republicans at 37%.

That 37% for Republicans is up 7% from last year.

Also significant – last year, just 48% of Americans aged 50-64 supported legally recognizing gay marriage. But in 2015, this figure has climbed to a majority of 54%.
