Trump Considering “Brand New Order” On Immigration

Earlier today I reported that President Trump had hinted he might issued a new executive order on immigration instead of fighting his current losing battle in the courts.

Trump again gave a nod to a new executive order while traveling with reporters today onboard Air Force One.

CNN reports:

The decision to not go to the Supreme Court comes as the White House is examining several options to save President Donald Trump’s controversial executive order on immigration.

“We will win that battle. The unfortunate part is that it takes time statutorily, but we will win that battle. We also have a lot of other options, including just filing a brand new order,” Trump told reporters onboard Air Force One Friday evening.

Asked if his plan might be to issue a new executive order, POTUS said: “It very well could be. We need speed for reasons of security, so it very well could be.”

In the aftermath of a federal appellate court’s decisive blow to Trump’s move to ban citizens of seven majority-Muslim countries from entering the United States, the White House is working on “possible tweaks” to the executive order, according to a source in close contact with the White House on national security issues.

Should it write a new order, it would be more narrowly tailored than the one issued two weeks ago, the source said, such as explicitly stating that it does not apply to legal permanent residents.

Trump: I’d Have Won New Hampshire If Not For Illegal Voters Being Bussed In From Massachusetts

He. Just. Can’t. Let. It. Go.

President Trump apparently went back into “voter fraud” mode yesterday during a bipartisan meeting of U.S. Senators meant to shore up support for Trump’s nominee for SCOTUS, Judge Neil Gorsuch.

Reporters were allowed in the room, but it was after the journalists were escorted out that Trump went on another rant saying he’d have won the popular vote in the presidential election if not for fraud.

As soon as the door closed and the reporters allowed to observe for a few minutes had been ushered out, Trump began to talk about the election, participants said, triggered by the presence of former New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte, who lost her reelection bid in November and is now working for Trump as a Capitol Hill liaison, or “Sherpa,” on the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch.

The president claimed that he and Ayotte both would have been victorious in the Granite State if not for the “thousands” of people who were “brought in on buses” from neighboring Massachusetts to “illegally” vote in New Hampshire.

According to one participant who described the meeting, “an uncomfortable silence” momentarily overtook the room.

Trump also teased Ayotte by saying, “You’d have won if you’d been on my train.”

President Trump Hints He May Unveil New Executive Order On Immigration

Earlier today, President Trump hinted that his administration may come up with a new executive order to replace/address issues with his immigration policy which has been put on hold by two federal courts.

“We’ll be doing something very rapidly having to do with additional security for our country,” Trump said during a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. “You’ll be seeing that some time next week.”

Jake Tapper On CNN’s Strained Relationship With Trump: “I Don’t Think Anybody Cares”

In an interview with “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert Wednesday, CNN’s Jake Tapper was asked about his network’s strained relationship with the White House.

Colbert: “What’s it like in the halls over there knowing that the president actively doesn’t like your network? How do people feel over there?”

Tapper: “I don’t think anybody cares. I’m not comparing the two, because they’re quite different, but I don’t think President Obama was a particular fan of mine. The job is to not be liked. My job is to tell the truth, deliver the facts and hold people accountable.”

And the crowd goes wild…

SCOTUS Nominee Gorsuch Found Trump’s “So-Called Judge” Comment Demoralizing And Disheartening

According to CNN, Judge Neil Gorsuch, Donald Trump’s nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court, shared with a US senator that he found Trump’s recent tweet about the a federal judge in Washington state “demoralizing” and “disheartening.”

In a meeting with Connecticut Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Gorsuch, who’s largely been silent since Trump nominated him last week, took exception to Trump calling a federal judge in Seattle a “so-called judge” after blocking the President’s travel ban.

“He said very specifically that they were demoralizing and disheartening and he characterized them very specifically that way,” Blumenthal said of Gorsuch. “I said they were more than disheartening and I said to him that he has an obligation to make his views clear to the American people, so they understand how abhorrent or unacceptable President Trump’s attacks on the judiciary are.”

Ron Bonjean, who is leading communications for Gorsuch during the confirmation process, confirmed Gorsuch called Trump’s tweet about the “so-called judge” “disheartening” and “demoralizing” in his conversation with Blumenthal.

It’s worth noting that the more statements like this from Gorsuch are made public, the more independent he will appear during his confirmation. There’s no incentive to withhold comments critical of Trump.

TwitterLand Rejoices Over Trump’s “Easy D” Tweet

An impatient President Trump tweeted on Wednesday: “Big increase in traffic into our country from certain areas, while our people are far more vulnerable, as we wait for what should be EASY D!”

The tweet related to the wait for a decision from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals regarding Trump’s immigration policy.  

But the “EASY D” found readers a bit perplexed. While he probably meant “easy decision,” some folks thought Trump might be going for the chill vibe. Others headed in a whole different direction.

Trump Slaps Nordstrom Department Store For Dropping Daughter’s Fashion Line

President Crybaby is upset this morning that First Daughter Ivanka Trump’s line of merchandise was dropped by Nordstrom Department store last week for poor sales.

Nordstrom said last week that the brand’s declining sales led to its decision. “Each year we cut about 10% [of brands carried] and refresh our assortment with about the same amount,” a Nordstrom representative told Business Insider. “In this case, based on the brand’s performance we’ve decided not to buy it for this season.”

So what’s a dad to do when he feels his daughter’s been slighted? Take to Twitter, of course.

According to White House schedule, this tweet was sent 20 minutes into his daily intelligence briefing. Is it possible his head’s not in the game?

For someone who’s claim to fame is being a successful businessman, I’m surprised that Trump believes being “a great person” should equal success in business.

I wonder how many “great” people Trump has refused to pay for their services over the years?

UPDATE – “Sparky” Spicer did ‘attack dog’ duty on the issue when asked about it today.

Spicer told reporters during his daily press briefing that the decision — which Nordstrom said was a result of poor sales, not politics — was because of the clothing company’s displeasure with President Donald Trump’s executive orders and his policies.

“I think this is less about his family’s business and an attack on his daughter,” Spicer said. “He ran for president. He won. He’s leading this country. I think for people to take out their concern about his actions or his executive orders on members of his family, he has every right to stand up for his family and applaud their business activities, their success.”
