Trump Congratulates Governor Of Guam On Becoming Famous Via North Korea Threat

The New York Post reports that President Trump called the governor of Guam on Friday to reassure him that as an American territory, the U.S. is at the ready to protect the residents of the island paradise.

Trump, who is personally obsessed with fame, made a point to tell the governor that he’s world famous now thanks to the attentions of North Korea.

Trump opened the conversation by telling Calvo, “Good morning, good morning. Great to speak with you. Good morning. I just wanted to pay my respects and we are with you 1,000. You are safe. We’re with you 1,000 percent. I just wanted to call and say hello.”

Trump later says, “We’re going to do a great job for you. All over the world they’re talking about Guam. Tourism is going to go up ten fold. It looks beautiful.” Calvo agrees. “It’s paradise.” And he told the former hotel magnate, “We have 95 percent occupancy and after all of this stuff calms down we’re going to have 110 percent occupancy.”

Trump To North Korea: Any Further “Overt Threats” And You Will Truly Regret It Fast

Speaking to reporters in New Jersey before a workforce development meeting, Donald Trump said North Korea’s Kim Jong Un would “truly regret” any further “overt threats” to American territories or allies:

“If [King Jong Un] utters one threat in a form of an overt threat — which, by the way, he has been uttering for years, and his family has been uttering for years — or if he does anything with respect to Guam or any place else that’s an American territory or an American ally, he will truly regret it. And he will regret it fast.’

Trump: I’m Doing The Military A ‘Great Favor” Kicking Trans Troops Out

For the first time in months, Donald Trump took questions from the reporters at his Bedminster, NJ golf club yesterday where he’s in the middle of a 17 day vacation.

Asked about his proposed ban on transgender military service, Trump said:

“I have great respect for the community. I think I’ve had great support, or I’ve had great support from that community. I got a lot of votes. But the transgender, the military’s working on it now. It’s been a very difficult situation and I think I’m doing a lot of people a favor by coming out and just saying it. As you know, it’s been a very complicated issue for the military, it’s been a very confusing issue for the military, and I think I’m doing the military a great favor.”

Donald Trump: Military Solutions Now Fully Locked And Loaded

Taking the escalation of threats to the next level, President Trump tweeted from his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club that “military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely.”

This comes just a day after Defense Secretary James Mattis issued an ultimatum to North Korea to “cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and destruction of its people.”

Sen. John McCain Takes Exception With Trump’s “Fire & Fury” Comments To North Korea

Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona said he “takes exception” to President Trump’s “fire and fury” remarks made after the news reported that North Korea has apparently produced a nuclear warhead small enough to launch on an intercontinental missile.

“I don’t know what he’s saying and I’ve long ago given up trying to interpret what he says,” McCain said of Trump during an interview with a local Arizona radio station first reported by NBC.

“That kind of rhetoric, I’m not sure how it helps.”

McCain said the U.S. risks getting into a serious confrontation with North Korea, and invoked former President Teddy Roosevelt’s famous “big stick” policy.

“In other words, the old walk softly but carry a big stick, Teddy Roosevelt’s saying, which I think is something that should’ve applied because all it’s going to do is bring us closer to a serious confrontation,” McCain warned. “I think this is very, very, very serious.”

Trump warned North Korea not to make any threats to the United States on Tuesday after The Washington Post reported that North Korea has produced a nuclear warhead small enough to place on a missile.

“North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States,” Trump told reporters Tuesday.

“He has been very threatening beyond a normal state, and as I said they will be met with fire, fury and frankly power, the likes of which this world has never seen before.”

McCain said he “takes exception” to Trump’s remarks.

“I take exception to the president’s words because you got to be sure you can do what you say you’re going to do,” said McCain, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

It goes without saying McCain (served in Air Force, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee) has a vastly more educated depth of understanding than Trump (five deferments for Vietnam for “bone spurs”) when it comes to military action.

A new CBS News poll shows 61% of Americans feel “uneasy” about Trump’s ability to handle a North Korean nuclear situation.

Trump Gets Twice-Daily “Propaganda Document” Filled With Positive Stories About Him

Twice a day since the beginning of the Trump administration, a special folder is prepared for the president. The first document is prepared around 9:30 a.m. and the follow-up, around 4:30 p.m. Former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and former Press Secretary Sean Spicer both wanted the privilege of delivering the 20-to-25-page packet to President Trump personally, White House sources say.

These sensitive papers, described to VICE News by three current and former White House officials, don’t contain top-secret intelligence or updates on legislative initiatives. Instead, the folders are filled with screenshots of positive cable news chyrons (those lower-third headlines and crawls), admiring tweets, transcripts of fawning TV interviews, praise-filled news stories, and sometimes just pictures of Trump on TV looking powerful.

One White House official said the only feedback the White House communications shop, which prepares the folder, has ever gotten in all these months is: “It needs to be more fucking positive.” That’s why some in the White House ruefully refer to the packet as “the propaganda document.”

Apparently, former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and former Press Secretary Sean Spicer used to compete about who got to deliver the packet of praise.

It’s no wonder Trump thinks his administration is doing better than it really is.

CNN Poll: Trump’s Approval Rating Hits Historical Low

According to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, only 38% of those polled approve of Donald Trump’s handling of the presidency, while 56% say they disapprove.

Only one other president at the six-month mark of their presidency has notched an approval rating below 50% at this point since modern polling began: Bill Clinton. At this point in 1993, Clinton had an approval rating of 44%, still 8 points better than the Trumpster.

The high 30s is where Trump seems to average when it comes to approval numbers.

But there is a troubling issue in this survey’s results for Trump. Among Republicans, strong approval has dropped by double digits – from 73% in February to 59% now. That signifies a drop of 14 points among his base.

More from the poll:

• Only 24% of Americans trust everything that comes out of the White House; 30% say they trust “nothing at all” from the Trump White House

• Just 43% believe Trump can “bring the kind of change the country needs,” down from 48% in April

• Only 39% feel Trump “can manage the government effectively,” down from 44% in April

• Just 36% say the Trump presidency is a success thus far versus 59% who say Trump is failing. At this point in their respective presidencies, both Obama and George W. Bush were considered “successful” by most Americans (51% for Obama; 56% for Bush)

• 62% say Trump’s actions and statements since taking office have made them less confident in him

• 59% say Trump isn’t paying enough attention to the country’s most critical issues

Donald Trump Has Dismal Average Approval Rating Of 36%

As Donald Trump reaches Day 200 of his presidency, it’s interesting to note how he’s faring in terms of Approval/Disapproval.

FiveThirtyEight averages the latest polls tracking how Americans feel about Trump’s performance. And the news isn’t good.

Trump currently has an aggregated 36% approval rating, coupled with 57.5% disapproval.

Compare that with both Presidents Obama and George W. Bush who averaged about 55% approval at their 200-day mark.

Throw in Bill Clinton’s 41% approval, George H.W. Bush’s 67% approval, and Reagan’s 59% approval, and you get a sense at how dismal Trump’s numbers are.

Trump Twitter Rant – Monday Edition

It was apparently raining in New Jersey this morning where Donald Trump is vacationing at his Bedminster Golf Club for 17 days.

Angry at the downpour for ruining his round of golf, Trump clearly spent time watching CNN which he repeatedly denies.

As one Twitterer notes, Sen. Blumenthal of Connecticut was on CNN this morning just before Trump tweeted an attack on him.
