Kohl’s Holiday Ad Celebrates The Inclusion Of Gay Couples

Retailer Kohl’s Department store unveils a new holiday spot that includes a gay couple with little fanfare (as it should be).

Thanks Kohls! I’ll be shopping at your place this season 🙂

And of course, this happens in my house all the time during the holidays.

Viral Video: 2015 Sainsbury’s Christmas Advertisement

The UK has a tradition of creative, extended holiday advertisements, like this one from British grocery store chain, Sainsbury’s. This one has over 8 million few in just a few days.

From the clip description:

Presenting the new Sainsbury’s Christmas Advert. Mog sets off a chain of unfortunate events which almost ruin Christmas for the Thomas family. Can she pull it all back to save the day?

This year, we worked in partnership with HarperCollins Children’s Books and world renowned author and illustrator Judith Kerr to create a Christmas story based on her much loved character Mog. We hope that families will come together this Christmas to enjoy this very special story #ChristmasIsForSharing

If you enjoyed the story, you can buy the beautifully illustrated book here. Every penny of the profit from sales of the book will be donated to Save the Children to be used towards improving child literacy in the UK.

As JoeMyGod points out, though, not everyone is thrilled with the ad.

London Fire Brigade weren’t too impressed with the video however, which shows the Christmas lights left on overnight and no smoke detectors in the house. They issued a warning yesterday which said: “The advert centres around a family fast asleep while a cute cat called Mog inadvertently starts two fires and luckily dials 999. “Sadly not everyone will have a ‘super cat’ like Mog and fire chiefs want everyone to make sure they have working alarms in their homes.” It continues: “We’re also concerned that the family had left their Christmas lights overnight – something the Brigade asks people to never do.

Gay Couple Responds To Vandalism With Fabulosity

As Metro News reports, a gay couple came home recently to find their front door vandalized by a homophobic jerk.

But instead of stewing in anger, the gays responded in absolutely fabulous style:

“We regret to inform you that you completely failed to use glitter paint and/or sequins, your work looked rushed, and your handwriting was positively atrocious.

“It is for these reasons that we had to remove your work from our door with sandpaper.

“Fabulously yours, The Gays in Apt. 611.”
