“Guardians of the Galaxy” rakes in $94 million in debut weekend

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ (featuring a hunky, sometimes shirtless Chris Pratt of Parks and Recreation) wins this weekend’s box office race racking up over $94 million. Initial estimates were in the $65-70 million range. This sets a new record for an August domestic debut, topping the $69.3 million opening of 2007’s “The Bourne Ultimatum.”

Last weekend’s winner ‘Lucy’ drops to second place with $18.2 million.

Rounding out third place is ‘Get On Up’ with $14 million.

Hunky Chris Pratt shares tips on how to take the perfect “selfie”

Shirtless Chris Pratt and abs in his famous viral “selfie”

Chris Pratt, of Parks and Recreation fame, has developed another kind of fame by showing off the results of his gym work as he preps for roles in Zero Dark Thirty and the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy.

Pratt shares some tips with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz on how to achieve the perfect shirtless “selfie:”

• “It’s important to gaze at your own image in the phone rather than make eye contact with yourself,” said Pratt…Otherwise, you’ll look “too self-aware.”

It has to look natural, almost like a mistake. Or as Pratt put it, “You just tripped, fell, and landed on some abs.”

When asked what went through his head taking the above pic that went super-viral, he says it was like  “seeing the Loch Ness Monster captured on film. You may never see it again.”

Now a :15 second teaser for the upcoming Marvel “Guardians of the Galaxy” flick shows why.

A full length trailer is reported to be released later tonight.

Parks and Recreation’s Chris Pratt shares shirtless “6 months no-beer” body

From Chris Pratt’s Instagram account: “Six months no beer. #GOTG Kinda douchey to post this but my brother made me.”

Last December, Pratt shared another gym pic of his “Zero Dark Thirty” body.

The “Parks and Recreation” star is getting ready for the upcoming Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
