L.A. Kings “Kiss Cam” Features Gay Couple Kissing To Cheers
After the sad displays of hate at recent Donald Trump political rallies, this clip from last night’s L.A. Kings hockey game last night puts a smile on my face.
And the crowd goes wild!
Via Outsports:
The Kiss Cam at last night’s Los Angeles Kings game featured a gay couple kissing, and they certainly didn’t hold back. Brad Parr and Andy Evans had secretly been hoping they would be the focus of the Kiss Cam at some point, and they got their wish last night in a 2-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Staples Center.
The gay kiss got the biggest cheers from the crowd, another great sign of acceptance. And it wasn’t just a little peck on the lips, these two went for it!
“It was a particularly sweet night since the Kings were playing and beat my hometown Toronto,” Parr told Outsports. “My parents and siblings live in LA but the rest of my family think I am a terrible traitor for being a Kings fan; I’ve lived in LA for 17 years.”
Alabama: Birmingham News Says “Roy Moore Is Delusional About Roy Moore”
The AL.com editorial board in Alabama has a scathing op-ed addressing misguided, anti-gay State Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore and his latest attempts to stop same-sex marriage in his state.
Just an excerpt – from the folks who know him best:
It is time Roy Moore realized that he is wrong. He is wrong on this issue, he is wrong in thinking he might ever be governor of Alabama, he is wrong in seeing himself as of presidential timber, he is wrong in thinking that he matters.
Already, there are citizen calls for his impeachment. He will soon go into retirement and be remembered as a bigot, disrespectful of the law and of his fellow human beings. That might be the only memory he has earned in his time in public office. And, hopefully, Alabama’s citizens will be remembered as the ones who showed him the door.
Muslim Woman Ejected From Trump Rally For Silent Protest
A Muslim woman stands silently with a t-shirt that read “I Come In Peace” at Donald Trump rally and gets booed and ejected.
From CNN:
A Muslim woman wearing a hijab was escorted out of Donald Trump’s campaign event on Friday by police after she stood up in silent protest during Trump’s speech.
Rose Hamid, a 56-year-old flight attendant sitting in the stands directly behind Trump, stood up Friday during Trump’s speech when the Republican front-runner suggested that Syrian refugees fleeing war in Syria were affiliated with ISIS.
Despite her silence, Trump supporters around her began chanting Trump’s name — as instructed by Trump campaign staff before the event in case of protests — and pointed at Hamid and Marty Rosenbluth, the man alongside her who stood up as well.
As they were escorted out, Trump supporters roared — booing the pair and shouting at them to “get out.” One person shouted, “You have a bomb, you have a bomb,” according to Hamid.
In this second clip, Hamid speaks to CNN about what happened.
“There were people who were very nice and sharing their popcorn. It was very nice, people around me, the people I had conversations with. But then what happened when the crowd got this hateful crowd mentality as I was being escorted. It was really quite telling and a vivid example of what happens when you start using this hateful rhetoric, and how it can incite a crowd where moments ago were very kind to me. One woman reached over and shook my hand and said “I’m so sorry this is happening to you.”
The behavior that Trump is inciting is so hateful and divisive. THIS could be our next president?

Gallup Poll Shows Jeb Bush Net Favorable Rating Dropped 28 Points In Six Month
According to the latest Gallup U.S. Daily poll, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has seen his net favorable rating among Republicans drop a precipitous 28 points to a sad -1. He currently has a 44% Favorable rating versus his 45% Unfavorable rating.
That means Bush has the worst Net Favorable rating in terms of major political players in the GOP race.
Donald Trump comes in with 35% Unfavorable rating, second only to Bush. Think on that one for the current front runner – 35% of what should be his base have a negative view of him.
Interestingly, Sen. Ted Cruz has the lowest Unfavorable rating with only 16% of Republicans viewing him in negative terms.
Hillary Clinton Op-Ed Underscores Importance of Next President’s SCOTUS Nominations
Hillary Clinton has an op-ed that’s completely on point in the Boston Globe today making the very important point that the next president could possibly nominate 3 Supreme Court justices.
Who do you want making those nominations? Hillary or someone like Ted Cruz? Huge gap in political perspective.
On Election Day, three of the current justices will be over 80 years old, which is past the court’s average retirement age. The next president could easily appoint more than one justice. That makes this a make-or-break moment — for the court and our country.
As president (and a lawyer and former law professor), I’ll appoint justices who will protect the constitutional principles of liberty and equality for all, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or political viewpoint; make sure the scales of justice aren’t tipped away from individuals toward corporations and special interests; and protect citizens’ right to vote, rather than billionaires’ right to buy elections.
I’ve been making this point for a long time now. Whatever your pet policy leaning is, so much precedent is set by SCOTUS which affects us all day to day.
Marriage equality, women’s right to choose, organized labor, voting rights – important issues that are in the docket for this term.
It’s really worth the read.
Anderson Cooper Has Awkward Misstep With President Obama During Town Hall
Arguably the stupidest question of many in @andersoncooper‘s career, properly hit by Obama #GunsInAmerica pic.twitter.com/Cim9NCEB0m
— Andrew Jerell Jones (@sluggahjells) January 8, 2016
While hosting last night’s Town Hall with President Obama last night on CNN, Anderson Cooper had what is easily one of his worst moments on television – and that includes anything that’s happened on New Year’s Eve with Kathy Griffin.
With a straight face, Cooper asked the President if it would fair to call ridiculous claims that Obama wants to take guns away from law-abiding Americans guns and impose martial law a “conspiracy” since “a lot of people really believe this deeply.”
Even the president registered a moment of amazement before swatting the question away.
President Obama Vetoes Congress’ Attempt To Repeal ObamaCare
After more than 60 attempts, Republicans in Congress finally managed to pass legislation which would repeal Obamacare and defund Planned Parenthood.
The bill passed in the House by a vote, along party lines, of 240-181.
President Obama quickly vetoed the legislation.
From CNN:
In his veto message, Obama stressed the number of times congressional Republicans have tried to “repeal or undermine the Affordable Care Act.”
“Rather than re-fighting old political battles by once again voting to repeal basic protections that provide security for the middle class, members of Congress should be working together to grow the economy, strengthen middle-class families, and create new jobs,” Obama wrote.
“Because of the harm this bill would cause to the health and financial security of millions of Americans, it has earned my veto,” he added.
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan promises to waste more of the chamber’s time by holding an override vote rather than focus on the people’s work, in spite of the fact that he lacks the votes to overcome the veto.
