ABC News/Washington Post Poll: Donald Trump Would Lost To Hillary Clinton

Donald Trump loves to talk about how he leads in polls.

But he’s not going to like the news today.

Earlier I posted results from the most recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll showing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton beating Trump in a hypothetical head-to-head match-up 51%-38%.

Now, ABC News/Washington Post poll echoes those results showing Clinton would beat Trump by 9 points,  50%-41%. This marks Clinton’s widest lead in this poll since September.

Additionally, only 30% of Americans see Trump favorably versus 67% unfavorably.

While Clinton is also underwater by that metric, she is in better shape with 46% favorable / 52% unfavorable numbers.

No wonder the GOP establishment is walking into walls over the Donald’s prospective candidacy.

More from the poll below:

What Happens At A ‘Contested’ Convention?

Folks are starting to talk more and more about the possibility of a “brokered” or “contested” Republican convention this election cycle.

But what does that mean? What are the rules for this?

Interestingly, the rules change slightly each round of voting at the convention. If Donald Trump were to reach the required 1,237 delegates he will secure the nomination.

If not?  Check below.

From the New York Times:

Pollsters Blindsided By Bernie Sanders’ Michigan Primary Win

The big story today is Sen. Bernie Sanders surprise win in the Michigan Democratic primary last night.

I say surprise because virtually every pollster and prognosticator in politics had pegged Hillary Clinton to win by double digits.

Check the screen capture above of the most recent polls aggregated by Real Clear Politics.

This morning, pundits are saying this will be remembered as one of the biggest upsets in electoral politics.

New Poll Shows Hillary Clinton & Bernie Sanders Both Would Beat Donald Trump In General Election

The latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows both Democratic contenders for president, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders, would beat GOP front-runner Donald Trump in hypothetical head to head match ups.

Clinton clocks The Donald by 13 points (51%-38%), and Sanders does even better besting Trump by 18 points (55%-38%).

Ted Cruz pulls the race tighter but Clinton still would win today by 2 points (47%-45%).

In fact, it’s Sen. Marco Rubio who has the strongest showing in a head-to-head against Clinton – a tie at 46%-46%.

But with talk of Rubio’s campaign on life support, I’m not seeing that scenario happen.

Also from the poll:

• 61% of Americans think Trump is “harmful” to the Republican party

• 55% of Americans disapprove of Senate Republican’s plan to block the nomination of a replacement for recently deceased Antonin Scalia.

• If the GOP candidates were in a two man race, Trump would lose in every scenario:

Trump – 40%
Cruz – 57%

Trump – 43%
Rubio – 56%

Trump – 40%
Kasich – 57%

Carly Fiorina Endorses Ted “Say Anything To Get Elected” Cruz

Back in early January, then-Republican White House hopeful Carly Fiorina told CNN that Ted Cruz will “say anything to get elected.”

Today, Ms. Fiorina endorsed Cruz:

“Ted Cruz is a fearless fighter for our constitutional rights. He has spent his life protecting Americans’ God-given liberties, and he has always stood by his word. Unlike the status-quo political class in D.C., Ted Cruz didn’t cower when he got to Washington – he stood unequivocally for the American people. I know Ted, and he’ll do the same as president,” said Carly Fiorina.

Expect to see more Republicans changing course on Cruz as they grow fearful of Trump’s (very possible) candidacy.

Already Sen. Lindsey Graham has said in recent days that he will hold his nose and vote Cruz rather than see Trump become the 2016 presidential nominee.

Here’s Fiorina telling CNN’s Dana Bash what she really thought about Cruz in January. Check the 2:25 mark.

Missouri Republicans End Democrat-Led Filibuster Over “License To Discriminate” Bill

Missouri state legislature

From St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

After more than 36 hours of non-stop debate, Republicans who control the Missouri Senate shut down a Democrat-led filibuster of a controversial same-sex marriage proposal early Wednesday.

Republicans used a parliamentary maneuver, known as the previous question, to end the blockade, which had put a national focus on a GOP-sponsored measure to shield clergy, wedding vendors and religious organizations from penalties if they oppose same-sex marriage.

The Senate then voted 23-9 to give the proposal preliminary approval. A final vote is expected Thursday before the measure moves to the House for further action. If approved by the House and Senate, the measure will be sent to the ballot for voter approval.

The record-setting marathon ended with anger from Democratic lawmakers and signs of relief from Republicans with a lack of sleep the only common ground between them.

Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders tweeted their support. State Sen. Wendy Davis of Texas — who gained notoriety after her own filibuster in 2013 — also praised the Democrats’ efforts.

Sen. Bob Onder, the sponsor, said the constitutional amendment is necessary so photographers, bakers and others aren’t “commandeered” into participating in same-sex marriages or receptions. The Lake Saint Louis Republican also wants to make sure churches don’t lose any tax benefits they have now if they oppose gay marriage.

If approved by voters, Democrats say it would enshrine discrimination against gays into the state constitution.

Rival Hockey Fans Put On A Show For The ‘Kiss Cam’

This just shows how progressive Hockey fans can be 🙂

This unidentified Blackhawks fan gave the crowd quite a show at a recent match with the Detroit Red Wings. The Blackhawks fan gave the woman next to him a kiss, then, when tapped on the shoulder by a Red Wings fan casually leaned back shared the love.

Quite innocent but fun to see. Watch below:

The National Republican Senatorial Committee tweets an unfortunate attack on Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth.

The tweet was quickly deleted.

“World’s Sexiest Math Teacher” Pietro Boselli Featured In “Love Boschino” Ad Campaign

Pietro Boselli, dubbed the “world’s sexiest math teacher,” has signed on as the new face of Moschino’s new “Love Moschino” ad campaign.

And what a face!

The wonderfully wet campaign was shot by Giampaolo Sgura under the direction of Moschnino’s Creative Director Jeremy Scott.

In addition to the chiseled abs, can we talk about Boselli’s boy-next-door smile?

Dang. I’m gonna sit here and “study” this for a while.
