Donald Trump Has Received Zero Endorsements From Newspapers

I was just thinking about this very idea a few days ago.

While Democrat Hillary Clinton has been getting endorsements from not only “left-leaning” newspapers, she’s also received the endorsement of several traditionally “right-leaning” newspapers. The Dallas Morning News, the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Arizona Republic – all have endorsed Hillary.

I realize that since I’m not a big fan of reading the hard right outlets, I’m not aware of any of Donald Trump’s endorsements.

Turns out it’s not me.

There aren’t any.

From Yahoo News:

With just a little over a month until election day, Donald Trump has racked up zero major newspaper endorsements, a first for any major party nominee in American history.

While newspaper endorsements don’t necessarily change voters’ minds, this year’s barrage of anti-Trump endorsements could actually move the needle come November, experts say.

“It’s significant,” Jack Pitney, professor of government at California’s Claremont McKenna College, told TheWrap. “The cumulative effect of all these defections could have an impact on moderate Republicans.”

Some conservative papers, which have endorsed Republicans for decades, are now breaking with tradition to endorse Hillary Clinton or, at the very least, urge their readers not to vote for Trump.

Several have taken a stand even at the expense of losing subscribers at a time when newspapers are barely staying afloat. Some papers have received death threats. But for a growing number of newspaper editorial boards, staying on the sidelines is no longer an option.

I just realized I am wrong. During primary season the New York Observer endorsed Donald. I guess I wasn’t counting that one since his son-in-law owns it.

Oh – and the National Enquirer endorsed the Trumpster. I think that says it all.

Sean Hannity: Trump Doesn’t Need To Win Debates To Win The White House

Fox News’ Sean Hannity has a new perspective on the presidential debates: Donald Trump doesn’t have to win the debates.

See, in this brilliant approach, Hannity prescribes that Trump just needs to let Trump be Trump, because the Trumpiest wins. And Hillary isn’t Trump. She merely has all those facts and figures at her finger tips.

Tim Kaine Explains Why He Didn’t Go After Pence’s Anti-LGBT Record During VP Debate

LGBT advocates were surprised Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate Tim Kaine didn’t bring up his Republican counterpart’s record on LGBT issues.

As many know, Gov. Mike Pence has one of the most virulently anti-LGBT in the country, most recently his signing into law a “religious freedom” bill in his state that, for all intents and purposes, legalized discrimination against LGBTs. Eventually, national outcry forced the governor to add a “fix” to the legislation that stated the law could not be used for discrimination.

Speaking to CNN, Kaine noted that the moderator didn’t ask any direct questions addressing LGBT rights.

Kaine then admitted that, while there was an opportunity there, he wanted to keep the focus on Clinton and Trump.

“Well, it is the case that there was no question that was asked that dealt with Governor Pence or just the issue of LGBT equality,” Kaine told CNN. “Hillary and I are strongly for LGBT equality, including marriage equality, and a Trump-Pence ticket is deeply against it, especially Governor Pence.”

“I viewed this as fundamentally a debate that was about Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, not about Tim Kaine and Mike Pence. So I went in with the thought that, look, Hillary Clinton is the top of the ticket, and Donald Trump is the top of the ticket, and that’s where I’m going to focus.”

Watch Kaine explain below.

Donald Trump Goes After The Terminally Ill Vote

Campaigning in Nevada last night, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told terminally ill to make sure they get out and vote on November 8th before they die.

No – this is not The Onion.

“I don’t care how sick you are. I don’t care if you just came back from the doctor and he gave you the worst possible prognosis, meaning it’s over. Doesn’t matter. Hang out till November 8. Get out and vote. And then, all we’re gonna say is, ‘We love you and we will remember you always.’ Get out and vote.”

A Glimpse Of The Future From 1957

I happened to scroll past this today on Facebook, and something made me stop and watch.

This is a mashup of scenes from the 1957 film, A Face In The Crowd.

Official synopsis: An Arkansas drifter becomes an overnight media sensation. As he becomes drunk with fame and power, will he ever be exposed as the fraud he has become?

Very powerful, and quite the prescient warning. Let me know if this reminds you of anyone.

Near the end, music theater fans may get a small kick out of the “You’re gonna love me” section.

I try to stay as far away from politics on Facebook as possible. That said, I just cut together a few of my favorite scenes from Elia Kazan’s 1957 classic A Face in the Crowd. The entire film should be required viewing for everyone during this election
