Team Trump To CNN: Why Do You Care About Trump Tweets?

Trump aide Kellyanne Conway, defending Donald Trump’s now infamous Twitter rants, asked CNN’s Chris Cuomo “Why do you care?”

From The Hill:

A top Donald Trump aide is dismissing questions about the president-elect’s tweeting, asking why a network news anchor would care. “Why take it up? Why take up SNL? No president does that. Why waste time? Why distract?” CNN’s Chris Cuomo asked Kellyanne Conway Monday morning. “Why do you care?” Conway replied in the contentious interview.

“Who’s to say he can’t do that? Make a comment – spend five minutes sending a tweet, making a comment,” Conway said on Monday. She then accused Cuomo of assigning “wrongdoing” and “malice” where it doesn’t exist. “I think we should all learn from the election that this doesn’t fly with the voters,” she added. Conway said CNN is “focusing on divisions” by bringing up Trump’s tweeting.

“This network and other people will always be focused on divisions. How about accepting the election results, Chris, and letting him form a government?” Trump over the weekend tweeted criticisms of “Saturday Night Live” and repeatedly called on the “Hamilton” cast to apologize to Mike Pence for comments targeted at the vice president-elect.

And having agreed to pay a whopping $25 million in 3 lawsuits alleging fraud regarding his failed Trump University (via NPR):

Now that we’re clear on that, can someone tell the Trumpster to put his phone down, stop tweeting outrage at the cast of Hamilton and get to work?

Any questions?

SNL Cold Open: Alec Baldwin’s “Trump” Scraps Pesky Campaign Promises

Alec Baldwin made his return as Saturday Night Live‘s “Donald Trump,” with the President-elect more confused than ever, and concerned that he may not know how to go about “presidenting.”

The skit includes Mike Pence’s now-infamous visit to Broadway:

Trump: “I heard you went to see Hamilton. How was that?”

Pence: “It was good. I got a free lecture.”

Trump: “I heard they booed you.”

Pence: “Absolutely.”

Trump: “I love you, Mike. You’re the reason I’m never going to get impeached.”

The meat of the sketch, though, addressed Trump’s impending realization of his woeful lack of unpreparedness for the presidency.

Transgender Day Of Remembrance 2016

Today marks this year’s Transgender Day of Remembrance, an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of those whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence, and to celebrate and support those who survive.

At least 24 transgender people were murdered in 2016 in the United States, according to media reports. In 2015, there were 22 reported anti-transgender killings. As is typically the case, the majority of those deaths were transgender women of color.

The Human Rights Campaign issued a statement regarding TDOR which read in part:

Now in its 18th year, TDOR is a time for the transgender community and allies to mourn those who have been victims of anti-trans violence, and to recommit to ensuring that their lives – and deaths – are not forgotten. TDOR allows us to call attention to the continued violence and injustice transgender people face every day.

In 2015, HRC reported the murders of at least 21 transgender people in the United States, more than any previous year on record. A disproportionate number of these victims were transgender women of color. That alarming trend has continued in 2016. HRC and the Trans People of Color Coalition (TPOCC) just released A Matter of Life and Death: Fatal Violence Against Transgender People in America 2016, a new, heartbreaking report documenting the often deadly violence faced by the transgender community and exploring the factors that fuel these tragic attacks.

“TDOR is about mourning those who have been taken from us through violence, transphobia and hatred, and it is a way of recognizing the loss that those lives represent to our community,” said Nicole Cozier, HRC Director of Diversity & Inclusion.

“TDOR empowers HRC’s steering committees, members and other activists on the ground to support members of the transgender community in their regions. It’s about mobilizing our communities to reach out and say, ‘We’re here and we stand with you.’” Cozier said.

The U.S. State Department issued this statement from Secretary of State John Kerry in observance of the solemn day:

On Transgender Day of Remembrance, the United States solemnly honors the memory of the many transgender individuals who lost their lives to senseless acts of violence.

Transgender persons around the world are targeted by rising levels of violence fueled by hatred and bigotry. This is a global challenge and we all must do more to protect transgender persons on the basis of equality and dignity.

In the United States, our Constitution enshrines freedoms of peaceful assembly, speech and association, and it affirms that everyone has equal protection under the law. Around the world human rights and fundamental freedoms are recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states that every person is born free and equal in dignity and rights. Every person includes transgender women, transgender men, and other individuals who face marginalization on account of their gender expression or gender identity.

Today we stand in solidarity with the incredible resilience and leadership of the transgender community in responding to stigma and marginalization. Transgender persons deepen our diversity, broaden our communities, and strengthen the values we cherish. When all persons reach their full human potential, free from fear, intimidation, and violence, nations become more just, secure and prosperous.

The United States remains committed to advance the human rights of all persons, including transgender persons. On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, we reaffirm equality for all as part of our core constitutional principles and as a human rights priority of U.S. diplomacy.

Sadly, I doubt we’ll see anything like these messages of support from our new administration next year.

Alec Baldwin Schools Donald Trump On How To Be President And It’s Awesome

I’m guessing Donald Trump’s orange skin is still a bit too thin for Alec Baldwin’s hysterical SNL parody of him.

After the Trumpster took to Twitter (for a change) to complain, Alec responded with some advice.

Sounds like Alec would make a great president…

Kanye West Rips Off Sacramento Fans With 30 Minute Show

Between the ego, the arrogance and ripping off his fans, I have to admit I don’t see the appeal of Kanye West.

Last night, in my summer home of Sacramento, West ended his show after 30 minutes. Those 30 minutes contained just two songs and endless stream of consciousness rants about Beyoncé and Jay Z.

And then, it was apparently “drop the mic” time.

From the Sacramento Bee:

“Press, get ready to write your passive aggressive, LeBron (James) racist comments – get ready the show is over!” West said before storming off the stage.

After the house lights went up shortly after, Golden 1 Center filled with choruses of boos and confused looks from fans. Outside the arena, many were visibly upset, especially after plunking down so much money on tickets. “I spent $250,” said a disappointed Christian Krebs of Sacramento. “I might be a fan of his music, but I’m not a fan of his character.”

The Sacramento stop on West’s “Saint Pablo Tour,” which was attended by more than 13,000, was scheduled to start at 9 p.m. and didn’t include an opening act. West didn’t take the stage until nearly 10:30 p.m., a time which the crowd grew restless and in some cases droopy eyes were seen around the arena. But not long after, the whole show came to a sudden, awkward finish and the house lights turned on.

The performance capped a wild few days for West, who was booed by fans at his Nov. 17 show in San Jose after saying that he didn’t vote, but if he did, he would’ve voted for Donald Trump. West also took a couple of digs at Hillary Clinton.

“This Saint Pablo tour is the most relevant (thing) happening,” West boasted. “If your old ass keeps following old models, you’ll be Hillary Clinton.” And not long after, it was all done.

Agitated fans spilled onto the streets surrounding the arena, and L Street filled with chants of, “(Screw) Kanye!” As of early Sunday morning, it was unclear if tickets to the show would be refunded.

New Music: Sia “Never Give Up”

Sia delivers her signature vocals over a bouncy Bollywood beat on this new track, “Never Give Up.”

“Oh yeah, I’m haunted by the distant past / Called to the skies but she was she overcast / But I won’t ever give up, no”

The track is to be featured in the upcoming flick Lion, starring Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel, opening this coming Friday.

Mike Pence: I Wasn’t Offended By Message From HAMILTON Cast

Appearing on Fox News this morning, Vice President-elect Mike Pence told Mike Wallace he was not offended by the message he received from the cast of the hit Broadway show Hamilton: An American Musical on Friday night.

Pence said he, his daughter and her cousins “enjoyed the great, great show.” He also told his daughter that the “boos” they heard when he entered the theater “is what freedom sounds like.”

Pence said, unlike his new boss, he wasn’t offended and that he didn’t want an apology. Bu he did add, “I’ll leave it to others to decide if it was the appropriate venue.”
