On CBS Sunday Morning, veteran journalist Ted Koppel schools Fox News’ Sean Hannity on the responsibilities of journalism.
In the first clip, Hannity explains that shows like his have become the “editorial” pages of America.
Koppel shoots back, “I’m against the editorial pages taking over from the front pages.”
Thank you @CBSSunday & Ted Koppel. The “editorial page” of circus shows like Sean Hannity have become the economic engine of networks pic.twitter.com/xODk9xVzaa— RiotWomenn (@riotwomennn) March 26, 2017
In this second clip, Koppel is even more direct.
Hannity: You think we’re (political opinion shows) bad for America?
Koppel (to his face): Yeah.

Here’s the full segment. Well worth watching.
After initially blaming House Democrats for the Republicans failure to “repeal and replace” Obamacare on Friday, this morning President Trump took a swipe at the far-right House Freedom Caucus for their hand in blocking the legislation.
Democrats are smiling in D.C. that the Freedom Caucus, with the help of Club For Growth and Heritage, have saved Planned Parenthood & Ocare!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 26, 2017
According to CNN, it was those same Freedom Caucus members that Trump told on Thursday to “forget about the little shit – focus on the big picture here.” That “big picture” being a win for his first legislative attempt, and ultimately his reelection.
Freedom Caucus members told the press they didn’t think Trump cared what the bill was as long as it passed.
“I got the sense that he had delegated a lot of the specifics to White House personnel and/or Paul Ryan and/or house leadership, and he was going to support whatever they came up with regardless of good or bad, as long as it was some kind of repeal and replacement,” said the caucus member, who asked not to be quoted by name in order to talk freely about the private meeting.

Oops.
The Republican super-PAC, American Action Network, prematurely bought air time to congratulation House Republicans for keeping their promises to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
Except – as we all know – the House GOP failed to pass their own legislation yesterday.
In fact, there wasn’t even a vote.
NCAA basketball fans were probably confused when these ads ran in several markets last night.
This really is amateur hour, isn’t it?

Why is it my mechanics never, ever, never look like this…?
In the aftermath of President Trump’s first big legislative attempt (and failure) we get the Saturday morning tweet you knew would come.
Yesterday, Trump blamed House Democrats for the demise of the American Health Care Act. Even though the Republicans have a majority in the House, they couldn’t get their act together for even the barest majority.
So, I’m not sure how the Dems, who weren’t even consulted on the bill, could be to blame.
Today, Trump tweets, “ObamaCare will explode and we will all get together and piece together a great healthcare plan for THE PEOPLE. Do not worry!”

It’s not often we get good news regarding LGBTs in Oklahoma.
But this past Thursday, the Republican-controlled state Senate voted down a bill that would have blocked local municipalities from passing their own ordinances that would protect LGBTs from housing and employment discrimination.
Oklahoma has no statewide protections for LGBT citizens.
Republican state Sen. Josh Brecheen, who authored the bill, said his intent was to protect the “sincerely held religious beliefs” of Oklahomans. But the state Senate gave the legislation a thumbs down by a vote of 25-18.
Clearly those lawmakers have seen what happened over in North Carolina and Indiana when anti-LGBT laws were passed.
A second measure, which would allow businesses to discriminate against LGBTs, was withdrawn after Brecheen’s bill went down.
