Ken (Matt Bomer), Mike (Channing Tatum), Tito (Adam Rodriguez) and Big Dick Richie (Joe Manganiello) in “Magic Mike.”

So I’m not only counting down to May 4 when Avengers hits theaters, but I’m even more excited about June 29, when Channing Tatum’s bio-pic, Magic Mike, comes out.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh (Traffic), it follows Mike (Tatum) as he takes a young dancer called The Kid (Alex Pettyfer) under his wing and schools him in the fine arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money. Oh, and everyone takes their clothes off.

Warner Brothers has released  new stills from the flick, which also stars Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer, Joe Mangianello, Adam Rodriguez , Olivia Munn and Riley Keough.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker saves woman from fire

Booker arrived home last night to discover his next-door neighbor’s house on fire, and rescued a young woman trapped upstairs by carrying her through the flames, suffering second-degree burns in the process.

The mayor’s security team discovered the fire and pounded on the door to alert residents, when an elderly woman said that her daughter was trapped upstairs. At first Rodriguez would not let Booker into the burning house. “He basically told me, ‘This woman is going to die if we don’t help her,’ and what can I say to that?,” Rodriguez said. “I let him go and without thinking twice, he just ran into the flames and rescued this young lady.”

The mayor said, “Yesterday, all my problems were really big to me. Today things feel a lot more clear,” Booker said. “And I have a lot more respect for firefighters!

Romney: “Women account for 92.3 percent of the jobs lost under Obama”

On April 6, 2012, Mitt Romney’s press secretary Andrea Saul tweeted, “FACT: Women account for 92.3% of the jobs lost under @BarackObama” – a claim also made on Romney’s website.

She followed it up a few hours later with this: “@BarackObama touts policies for women & 92.3% jobs lost under him r women’s. He’s even more clueless than we thought.”

When asked for backup for the claim, the campaign cited national employment figures spanning four years. Though the numbers are accurate, their reading of them isn’t.

Betsey Stevenson, a business and public policy professor at Princeton University, pointed out that “in every recession, men’s job loss occurs first and most, with unemployment rates for men being more cyclical than those of women’s.”

She added that many of women’s job losses have been government jobs — teachers and civil servants — which have been slower to come back because they require greater government spending.

Remember, with the recession, many states who had trouble balancing budgets turned to education budgets eventually to make spending cuts. And most teachers tend to be women.

So have Obama’s policies been especially bad for women?

Said Stevenson: “I don’t think you could point to a single piece of evidence that the pattern of job loss: men first then women, is due to the president’s policies. It’s a historical pattern that has held in previous recessions.”

CCOKC – Child Celebrities Opposing Kirk Cameron

Some other famous kids of the ’80s and ’90s want you to know that gays rule and Kirk Cameron drools.

Fabulous! Go kids!

As previously reported, the ex-Growing Pains star told Piers Morgan last month of homosexuality: “I think that it’s unnatural. I think that it’s detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.”

On the subject of gay marriage, Cameron told Morgan, “Marriage is almost as old as dirt, and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve. One man, one woman for life till death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don’t think anyone else should either. So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don’t.”
