I’m especially thankful to have been a part of the ride this year for LGBT rights. From my own little soapbox here on The Randy Report, I hope to encourage tolerance and acceptance for everyone.
With the historic passing of marriage equality in three more states this year and Tammy Baldwin being the first openly lesbian elected US Senator, our voices are being heard.
Watching this video really reminds me of the great things that have happened in a relatively short amount of time. And for all of them, I’m very, very thankful.
And a bit proud.
Celebrate kids.

From now until 2013, you can make a donation to New York’s Ali Forney Center for homeless LGBT youth just by renting or buying an episode of Half-Share on Amazon.com.
Half-Share — which has been getting its fair share of love at LGBT film-festivals over the last year — is a sitcom that follows Mac, a gay guy fresh out of a 14-year relationship, as he re-discovers socializing and dating with his hilarious friends on Fire Island.
You can check out a free viewing of the pilot episode tonight at 10pm EST/7pm PST on the official Half-Share website.
And if you like what you see, you can snag each episode online for the inexpensive price of $1.99 per rental or $4.99 per purchase, with 50 percent going towards the Ali Forney Center.
Hurricane Sandy left the Ali Forney Center underwater leaving its staff to try and help others while sorting through flooded office equipment and stacks of wet paper.
Tom Daley does a “quick strip.” Does anyone know what this was made for?

The United Nations approved a resolution that condemns the killing of LGBT persons either by governments or via “extrajudicial” means such as hate crimes:
An international coalition of organizations dedicated to human rights celebrated yesterday’s historic vote in the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to pass resolution condemning extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions. The vote reversed the events of 2010 when the same body voted to strip the resolution of reference to “sexual orientation.” The UNGA also expanded upon its commitment to the universality of human rights by including “gender identity” for the first time in the resolution’s history. The resolution, which is introduced biennially in the Third Committee, urges States to protect the right to life of all people, including by calling upon States to investigate killings based on discriminatory grounds. It was introduced by the Government of Sweden and co-sponsored by 34 states from around the world.
The United Arab Emirates attempted to strip “sexual orientation” from the resolution on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, just as they did two years ago.
Japan broke its long silence on the issue with this declaration: “We cannot tolerate any killings of persons because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Our delegation voted against the proposed amendment to this paragraph because we think it is meaningful to mention such killings from the perspective of protecting the rights of LGBT people.”

President Obama continued the White House tradition of “pardoning” a turkey today. But he couldn’t resist a nod to Mitt Romney’s recent post-election “gifts” gaffe during the ceremony.
“They say that life is all about second chances and this November I can’t agree more,” Obama said. “So in the spirit of the season I have one more gift to give,” Obama joked in apparent reference to Mitt Romney’s claim after the election that Obama won by giving “gifts” to minority groups, Obama said he was going to pardon the National Thanksgiving Turkey, named Cobbler, and his stand-in, Gobbler. “The American people have spoken, and these birds are moving forward,” he added.
The president closed by joking that Nate Silver had already predicted which turkey would be chosen.
