Jerry Sandusky arrested on new charges of sex abuse

From ABC News: Jerry Sandusky was just arrested on new charges of sex abuse.

According to the state attorney general, both men met Sandusky through the Second Mile charity, were plied with trips to football games, and were abused by him in Sandusky’s home. The man now identified as Victim 10 also claimed that Sandusky molested him in a Penn State campus swimming pool and exposed himself and asked for oral sex during a car ride.

The new charges include involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, and corruption of minors.

The two men say they have come forward in light of Sandusky being charged with 40 counts of sex abuse on Nov. 5.

Rick Perry: Bizarre anti-gay campaign ad

First, over 70% of Americans support the repeal of DADT.

Second, nothing keeps anyone from praying anywhere. While there may not be organized prayer, anyone can pray anywhere they want in this country.

President Obama has not signed a single law that threatens anyone’s religious beliefs. In the USA, the law of the land dictates that you are allowed to believe, or not believe, in any religious faith you wish.

Shame on Rick Perry for throwing such false “red meat” out to the conservatives.

As many people in the political world know, rumors about Rick Perry have been around for years. I don’t know if he’s gay – but I do know he’s really kicked up the anti-gay rhetoric lately. And sometimes, good defense is a good offense.

Rick Santorum: US is obese so why do we need food stamps?

Speaking in Iowa, Rick Santorum promised to reduce federal funding for food stamps, saying the nation’s increasing obesity rates make the program unnecessary:

Santorum told the group he would cut the food stamp program, describing it as one of the fastest growing programs in Washington, D.C.

“If hunger is a problem in America, then why do we have an obesity problem among the people who we say have a hunger program?” Santorum asked.

The cost of the food stamp program has grown not because of overeating, but because more Americans are out of work and wages are down.

Recent data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture found that nearly “70 percent households that relied on food stamps last year had no earned income,” although many households did benefit from Social Security benefits and other government programs. But a whopping 20 percent of households had no cash income at all last year.

In addition,the food stamp program has been critical for reducing poverty and pumping money into local economies during the down economy, so cutting it now would not only take food out of peoples’ mouth but could slow down the economic recovery.

Time Magazine names Occupy Wall Street top US news story

On Sept. 17, a couple hundred protesters demonstrating against the excesses of corporate execs and the pervasive influence of high finance in U.S. politics set up camp in Lower Manhattan’s Zuccotti Park and refused to leave.

It was an unlikely occupation, one without leaders, agendas or even a clear sense of goals, but it soon was echoed in myriad cities across the U.S. and the world.

To some, Occupy Wall Street is the left-wing iteration of the Tea Party, directing their rage not at big government but at the big banks that gutted the world economy and took billions in bailouts from the U.S. government while awarding themselves hefty bonuses.

Highlights from “Gypsy of the Year” including the original cast of GREASE

Last year, Gypsy of the Year raised $3,776,720, pushing the competition’s 22-year total to $44,136,720. This year’s grand total reached a whopping $4,895,253! All funds go to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

The opening number featured the original Broadway cast of Grease reuniting for a special 40-year anniversary tribute. Among the stars returning to the stage from one of the most popular musicals in Broadway history are Barry Bostwick (Danny), Carole Demas (Sandy), Adrienne Barbeau (Betty Rizzo), Alan Paul (Teen Angel/Johnny Casino) and Walter Bobbie (Roger). Also joining the opening number reunion are original cast members Don Billett (Vince Fontaine), James Canning (Doody), Daniel Douglas (Burger Palace Boy), Katie Hanley (Marty), Tom Harris (Eugene Florczyk ), Ilene Kristen (Patty Simcox), Joy Rinaldi (Pink Lady) and Mews Small (Frenchy).

Grease, with book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and WarRen Casey, garnered seven Tony Award nominations and played 3,388 Broadway performances before closing April 13, 1980.
