Tim Tebow – shirtless and sexy…

Thought I’d take a look at Tim Tebow of the Denver Broncos since he’s getting so much ink about being terrific and sexy and all that.  (Ok, I tried to find some sexy shirtless pics, but there aren’t many to find…)
I understand folks are petitioning him to make an “It Gets Better” video for kids that are bullied.  Sounds like a great idea for a role model.  More than 3,000 fans have signed a petition urging Tebow and fellow Broncos to make the video.

As many readers here know, the project, founded in September, 2010, is an effort to curb suicides among lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender teens. ‘It Gets Better’ has delivered video messages from public figures including Barack Obama and pro sports teams like the San Francisco Giants, encouraging teens that their lives will improve in adulthood.

No NFL team has yet joined the campaign.  Will Tim Tebow be the first quarterback to join “It Gets Better?”

CA group has until May 14th to gather Prop 8 repeal signatures

A Los Angeles-based group called Love Honor Cherish has been cleared to collect the 807,615 voter signatures required to qualify its initiative for the November 2012 ballot, the secretary of state’s office said. The deadline for the petitions and signatures is May 14th.

The repeal initiative submitted by Love Honor Cherish would strike Proposition 8 and state instead “that marriage is between only two persons and shall not be restricted on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, or religion,” according to a summary prepared by the California Attorney General’s office. It also contains language stating that clergy would not be required to perform marriages that violate their religious beliefs, if the initiative passes.

Prop 8 was passed in 2008 with 52% approval five months after the California Supreme Court legalized marriage equality.

LGBT activists are awaiting a ruling from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on whether last year’s lower court decision that struck down Prop 8 will be upheld.

Marcus Bachmann outlines his “First Spouse” agenda

Ladybird Bachmann, or Marcus Bachmann as he is known in many circles, outlined what would be his agenda as the “first spouse” should his wife Michele Bachmann defeat all odds and not only become the GOP candidate for President but actually go even farther and BECOME President.

From the New York Times, Marcus shares with us:

“I’ve decided my cause is not going to be happy meals,” he said during a stop at the Family Table Restaurant here, apparently a dig at Mrs. Obama.

“We are going to be the message-givers,” said Mr. Bachmann, who runs a Christian counseling service that has been accused of trying to “heal” gays by persuading them to become heterosexual.

“We are going to get this message across,” he said. “Marriage is between one man and one woman. We are going to promote families.”

Good to know that, should time and fate warp into a science fiction movie, Marcus Bachmann would decide to use her platform – instead of addressing literacy like Laura Bush or fighting obesity like Michele Obama – to fight the scourge of marriage equality.

And then she woke up for her dream…

Caesars Entertainment rates a perfect score from Human Rights Campaign

Caesars Entertainment Corporation was awarded its fifth consecutive perfect rating from the Human Rights Campaign’s annual Corporate Equality Index. The Corporate Equality Index rates businesses based on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workplace policies.

“Caesars Entertainment is proud to be the only gaming company this year to have received a perfect rating from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation on its Corporate Equality Index,” said Fred Keeton, vice president of finance, external affairs and chief diversity officer for Caesars Entertainment.

“Through leading edge diversity initiatives and our valued relationship with this important organization, we look forward to the coming years and plan to continue to lead the way in LGBT workplace equality.”

The ‘five-peat’ is a reflection of Caesars long-time commitment to create and facilitate programs and policies that are offered to all of its employees and guests. Specific to its LGBT employees, the company enforces its comprehensive non-discrimination policies, provides domestic partner benefits (including health care) and will offer benefit coverage for gender reassignment.

Keeton stressed that the company is a large supporter of the LGBT community and seeks to provide a world-class experience for all of its guests. LGBT guests are treated with the utmost respect and are encouraged to take part in pioneered LGBT events and offerings (e.g. Gay weddings and commitment ceremonies, honeymoon packages, nightlife and PRIDE events).

I’m proud to have a “one degree of separation” with Caesars Entertainment as my husband Michael is the national press rep for Chippendales, which is at the Rio Hotel and Casino – a Caesars property in Las Vegas. I’ve always been very proud of the fact that gay men are always welcome at Chippendales, and always treated with respect at the show.

With the huge amount of recreation travel dollars the LGBT community can spend, it pays to make sure we spend our money where it’s appreciated. I encourage everyone to take a look at the Corporate Equality Index to know where and to who your dollars go.

MINNESOTA: Anti-gay GOP Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch Resigns in Scandal

Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch (R) has resigned under a cloud of  disgrace after allegations of an affair with a Senate staffer.

Koch, who is is married with one child, was one of the proponents of Minnesota’s 2012 anti-gay marriage constitutional amendment.

Koch resigned Thursday and said she wouldn’t seek re-election in 2012, while on Friday her fellow Republicans dealt with shocking allegations that led to her decision.

At a Capitol news conference Friday, Sen. Geoff Michel (R-Edina) said Senate staff recently brought up allegations of an “inappropriate relationship between Majority Leader Koch and a Senate staffer.”

“We sit here with a lot of humility, sadness, and shock,” Michel said.

Michel said multiple staffers reported allegations to Senate leaders. He said he doesn’t know how long the relationship was going on and legally cannot discuss the name of the Senate staffer involved with Sen. Koch. On whether or not the relationship was sexual, Michel said “I think there’s only two people who could fully characterize that,” but GOP leaders said they never heard the word “sexual” used when the allegations surfaced.

At the press conference, Sen. Michel used the phrases “inappropriate,” a “conflict of interest” and created an “unstable work environment for staff.”

Why is it so many anti-gay rights politicians end up with these hypocritical ‘skeletons’ in their closets?

“Heavy” from Dreamgirls Concert 2001 – Audra McDonald, Lilias White and Heather Headley

The original cast of Dreamgirls was the best Broadway show I ever saw.

This concert in 2001 – also starring Billy Porter (“Jimmy Early”) and Norm Lewis (“Curtis”) – was a fantastic ‘dream cast’ event.

I just found this clip on youtube. All three ladies are fantastic to begin with, and then there’s the terrific material.
