Wow – what a holiday party!
So last week, Michael and I had the coolest holiday experience of attending a Christmas party hosted by Olivia Newton-John. She and her husband John threw an amazing party, and we got to catch up a lot of Team ONJ. Many of those closest to Olivia – friends and all that – were there.
I’m not one to “name drop” but I’m thrilled to say I know these people as friends. All very talented and I can’t imagine time better spent than with these fabulous folks.

Jon Bon Jovi is alive
Jon Bon Jovi trended worldwide on Twitter today when people thought he was dead.
But he is not dead.
A poorly constructed, fake press release got retweeted a whole bunch of times and eventually, talk progressed from his appearance in an Advil commercial to his supposed demise.
Reactions ranged from shock and appreciation for Bon Jovi’s work to statements like “Jon Bon Jovi can only be killed by silver bullets”.
No official statement has been issued yet to confirm the death is just a rumor, though a rep is reported to have cleared up the matter.

Bi-national gay couples ask to come home for the holidays
Across the globe this year, binational LGBT couples are living in exile or living separated from one another because of discriminatory laws in the United States.
Despite being U.S. citizens, the American half of these couples is forced to choose between love and country.
Jesse, an American citizen from New York, and Max, his partner of more than 10 years who is a citizen of Argentina, are currently living in exile in London due to Jesse’s inability to sponsor Max for a green card because of the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
Jesse, a born-and-bred New Yorker, has to live thousands of miles from his parents and sister year after year, missing every holiday and family celebration.
Jesse and Max are in a new holiday campaign from several LGBT organizations highlighting the inequality faced by binational LGBT couples.
However, this wrong could be solved tomorrow.
Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano has the power to issue these couples “humanitarian parole,” bringing binational couples home for the holidays.

Marriage equality boosts gay men’s health, lowers stress
A new study suggests legalized same-sex marriage may provide gay men with more than just legal benefits.
For the study, published in the Dec. 15 issue of the American Journal of Public Health, researchers compared health records on 1,211 gay patients at a community health clinic in Massachusetts in the years before and after same-sex marriage was legalized in 2003.
In the year after same-sex marriage was legalized, gay and bisexual men were significantly less likely to visit the clinic for medical and mental health care. Gay men saw reductions in their hypertension, depression, and frequency of stress-related disorders called adjustment disorders, health records showed. These reductions contributed to a 13% drop in health care visits and 14% drop in health care costs.
Earlier studies have shown that laws preventing lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals from marriage may have a stressful impact on those populations.
“Marriage equality may produce broad public health benefits by reducing the occurrence of stress-related health conditions in gay and bisexual men,”study author Dr. Mark K. Hatzenbuehler, a researcher at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, said in a written statement. “This research makes important contributions to a growing body of evidence on the social, economic, and health benefits of marriage equality.”

Ron Paul on The Tonight Show
While appearing Friday on The Tonight Show, Paul basically insulted every other Republican candidate, save for former Utah governor John Huntsman.
Paul said Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann hates Muslims, and indirectly said Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum hates both Muslims and gays.

Poll: Newt Gingrich in free fall in Iowa
Newt Gingrich’s campaign is rapidly imploding, and Ron Paul has now taken the lead in Iowa. He’s at 23% to 20% for Mitt Romney, 14% for Gingrich, 10% each for Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann, and Rick Perry, 4% for Jon Huntsman, and 2% for Gary Johnson.
Gingrich has now seen a big drop in his Iowa standing two weeks in a row. His share of the vote has gone from 27% to 22% to 14%. And there’s been a large drop in his personal favorability numbers as well from +31 (62/31) to +12 (52/40) to now -1 (46/47).
Negative ads over the last few weeks have really chipped away at Gingrich’s image as being a strong conservative – now only 36% of voters believe that he has ‘strong principles,’ while 43% think he does not.
Ron Paul’s ascendancy is a sign that perhaps campaigns do matter at least a little, in a year where there has been a lot of discussion about whether they still do in Iowa. 22% of voters think he’s run the best campaign in the state compared to only 8% for Gingrich and 5% for Romney. The only other candidate to hit double digits on that question is Bachmann at 19%. Paul also leads Romney 26-5 (with Gingrich at 13%) with the 22% of voters who say it’s ‘very important’ that a candidate spends a lot of time in Iowa. Finally Paul leads Romney 29-19 among the 26% of likely voters who have seen one of the candidates in person.
If this continues, watch for Gingrich’s lead in other early states to evaporate too.
