An unvaccinated school teacher in California who didn’t realize she had COVID-19 removed her mask to read to students resulting in more than half of of the class becoming infected and sparking a community-wide outbreak. The incident took place last May and serves as a prime example of how easy it is to undermine efforts to protect children too young to be vaccinated, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky told CNN.. The teacher reportedly showed up for work and continued to teach for two days even though they had Covid-19 symptoms. The teacher assumed their symptoms were due to allergies, not infection, the investigators found. In the classroom of 22 students, 12 became infected — including eight out of 10 students in the two front rows. The desks in the classroom were separated by six feet, according to the report from the CDC, and all of the classrooms had portable high-efficiency particulate air filters. Doors and windows were left open. Read more at CNN. https://twitter.com/CNN/status/1431372717379489792
