Academy Award winner Shirley MacLaine, 92, made a rare video appearance in a clip posted by the Southampton Playhouse ahead of the theater’s upcoming screening of her 1969 musical film, “Sweet Charity.”
“I would like to see ‘Sweet Charity’ again,” she says in the clip. “Now, while you’re watching it, remember how hard we worked. And between you and me, it didn’t do very well.”
MacLaine starred in the movie musical, which, unfortunately, was a box office flop.
According to Variety, her most recent on-screen appearance was in the 2022 film “American Dreamer” and two episodes of “Only Murders in the Building.”
I had the great luck to meet the Oscar winner years ago and can report she’s a doll.
