Wishing everyone a fun, frolicsome, and happy Independence Day as the country recognizes the 250th anniversary of the birth of our nation.
Trust and believe I am celebrating all the way over in Greece where hubby Michael and I are about to embark on an Atlantis Cruise from Athens to Venice.
Here are some Independence Day factoids (via NPR) to share during your July 4th conversations.
• There have been 27 different versions of the official U.S. flag from 1777 to 1960.
• There is an argument that Independence Day should be celebrated on July 2 because the Continental Congress voted on independence on July 2, 1776. But, the Declaration of Independence wasn’t signed until July 4, 1776.
• There are numerous celebrations of U.S. Independence Day abroad. Celebrations of the United States’ birth happen in Denmark, Norway, Ireland and Sydney, Australia.
• The U.S. is not the only country celebrating freedom on July 4. It is also Liberation Day in Rwanda, and Republic Day in the Philippines.
