2026 Tony Award Nominations Announced – ‘The Lost Boys’ & ‘Schmigadoon!’ Lead With 12 Nods

It’s a big day in the theater world as the nominations for the 79th Annual Tony Awards were announced this morning.

Twenty-four shows were honored with at least one nomination.

Schmigadoon! and The Lost Boys were the most nominated shows of the year, with 12 nominations each. They are closely followed by Ragtime (11), Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman (9), Cats: The Jellicle Ball (9), Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show (9).

Special shout-out to June Squibb who made Tony history by becoming the oldest actor to receive a nomination, at the age of 96 for her performance in Marjorie Prime.

The play Liberation by Bess Wohl is having an especially good week. On Monday, it won the Pulitzer, and today it was nominated for a Tony for Best New Play.

The 79th Annual Tony Awards will broadcast live on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The main ceremony airs at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on the CBS Television Network and will stream live for subscribers on Paramount+.
