Check out the official trailer for the acclaimed coming-of-age film Griffin In Summer featuring an impressive performance by the film’s young lead, Everett Blunck.
Official synopsis:
Griffin Nafly (Everett Blunck) is the most ambitious playwright of his generation. He’s also fourteen years old and living with his parents in a humdrum suburb while dreaming of moving to New York City.
When his mom (Melanie Lynskey) hires a handsome 25-year-old handyman (Owen Teague), Griffin’s life and his new play take an inspired turn.
Written and directed by Nicholas Colia (feature film debut), Griffin In Summer premiered at the Tribeca Festival where it received awards for Best US Narrative Feature, Best Screenplay, and the Special Jury Mention for New Narrative Director.
Since then, it’s played over twenty additional festivals across the US and Europe. Colia was recently nominated for the “Someone to Watch Award” at the 2025 Independent Spirit Awards.
The movie currently has an impressive 94% “Fresh” rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. Just a few of the rave reviews:
“Blunck is an arresting presence. He balances Griffin’s intensity and know-it-all attitude with unexpected moments of typical adolescent insecurity.” – The Hollywood Reporter
“Will have you rolling in laughter with its sublime portrayal of a disaffected youth. Adolescence can be a tough time to find yourself. It’s especially difficult for a raging narcissist with a hilariously inflated ego.” – MovieWeb
“A brilliant movie about first crushes, becoming much more throughout its brisk runtime thanks to its director’s careful touch.” –Screen Rant
In theaters August 29.
