“132 rooms. 157 suspects. One deceased individual. One eccentric detective. One disastrous State Dinner. The Residence is a quirky whodunit taking place in the various levels of the White House, amidst the diverse staff of the most famous residence in the world.”
Uzo Aduba, known for her role in Orange is the New Black, stars as Cordelia, while Randall Park from WandaVision plays the “skeptical FBI agent” Edwin Park, and Giancarlo Esposito, recognized from Breaking Bad, portrays the murder victim at the heart of the investigation. In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, Fitzgerald and Foa shared they are “profoundly proud” to portray queer men in such high positions of authority. “I’m a queer man myself, and probably very straight-presenting,” Fitzgerald said. “I’m someone who’s very comfortable in my sexuality. I loved just being myself. I didn’t feel like I had to act straight or anything.” “Ultimately, I want to represent that gay people are a multiplicity of things,” he added. “We can be deadly serious and straight-acting, and we can also jump out of our fucking seat at Kylie Minogue [who makes a guest appearance].” Since its debut, The Residence has garnered widespread praise from both audiences and critics, with many applauding its witty humor, stellar cast, and Aduba’s exceptional performance. The Residence is available for streaming now on Netflix.
